Truly awful customer service.
I asked for a pizza with ricotta and mushrooms. We went back-and-forth over the exact type of pizza.
Finally I said “okay, then I’ll do the mushroom pizza but no truffle oil.”
She gave me a pizza that absolutely had truffle oil on it. I brought the pizza back and said “you sure this has no truffle oil?” She said “no I made sure.” I said “it smells and tastes like truffle oil.” She insisted it wasn’t truffle oil.
I tried to eat another bite or two, thinking, if she was so sure, maybe my mind was playing tricks on me. No, it was truffle awful!!!!
I brought it back again and said “okay, it absolutely has oil on it and it tastes like truffle oil. You can SEE the oil on the arugula.” She insisted it was olive oil they had doused the pizza with (which would be an odd thing to do anyway, but no, this wasn’t olive). I said “okay. Put it this way: I don’t like the pizza and I can’t eat it.” She just smiled and said “well I made sure it wasn’t truffle.”
I left and threw the pizza out in the trash in front of their store.
What kind of establishment doesn’t remedy an issue? I returned the pizza with what two bites taken out? Three? And I came back TWICE because it was so bad, and it’s hard to make pizza taste bad.
For customer service alone, don’t go here. They are SO rude.
Update: after I left, I had to dig out my benedryl because, sure enough, it was truffle. I called and told them it did give me allergic reaction and that I want a refund.
The lady said “I was gonna give you a refund but you ran out!” I have two dislocated knees. There was no running. Also, I had come back in twice. By the second time, good customer service would have said “you know what, if you are concerned, let’s make it again or give you a refund.” In fact, truly good customer service would have double-checked with the kitchen the first time I brought the pizza back.
Mistakes happen, and they are an opportunity to wow a customer with how you handle things when you make a mistake. I wouldn’t give a one star review for a mistake. There was zero offer or remote attempt made toward giving me a refund until I called and asked for one.
Then the lady tells me to come in a THIRD time to get a refund. When I enter, she just smiled and said “oh you didn’t have to come back in!” (Which she had asked me to do on the phone). “I refunded it to the card you used.”
I can think of no other word for this woman, but nasty. If she isn’t the owner, her supervisor should, at the very least, have words with her. Uniquely atrocious service.
Check my other reviews. I review A LOT. I don’t often give a place a one star review. If I do, it’s for a...
Read moreI want to start this review by saying that the restaurant is beautiful and the food is amazing. The girl who came to seat my party of 11 visibly seemed very exasperated when our party of 11 came in (the bistro is just that, and is most comfortable for smaller parties). When we said we would be happy splitting into two groups and sitting in the back, she brushed us off & our group had to walk over and sit ourselves. The meal was great, with the exception of one of our parties asking for water with lemon & was provided with regular water & no explanation. Our lady server continued to seem overall disinterested in serving our party. I don’t believe women should have to smile in service but she look outright distraught to be working when the restaurant was mostly empty. On the menu it clearly says “20% gratuity will be added to parties of 6 or more” (see attached screenshot). When the bill came, a total of over $300, we started asking about splitting the bill. Our server told us “I cannot split the check, figure it out”. Taken aback, our group came together putting in cash and we had JUST enough to cover the bill. When most of our party was heading to/out the door, the owner stopped a few of us (two pregnant women included) and told us we had neglected her gratuities, which we pointed out the menu said was already calculated in the total. He said it was ultimately up to the server to add it and was NOT in fact, part of the bill. We only had $8 additional dollars, which we left for her as the last of our party exited. We regrouped on the sidewalk to say our goodbyes (family coming together from as far as Maine and Georgia) and the owner followed us out, confronting my mom, again asking us why we only tipped $8. We told him she refused to split the check for us, and only THEN did he say that we could pay with various cards. No mention from the server, no mention when he originally approached us looking for gratuities. Furthermore, It’s wrong that they wouldn’t tell those customers when they sit them down that the bill couldn’t be split, ignoring the policy noted on their own menu about gratuities, only to follow the same group around asking for more money & following them into the street. Our entire group who has well over 2 decades of combined customer service and serving experience, was appalled. Many other reviews share similar experiences of poor customer care and treatment INCLUDING 2 people who were hit in the head with an attack door & were ignored by the staff! Other customers complain about waiting and being charged multiple times for other tables tabs. PLEASE consider taking your patronage to the other eateries...
Read moreA group of friends and I had the utter pleasure of a Sunday brunch at the Boathouse Bistro! From its modern design with clean lines and oceanic theme to the warm greeting and conversation with owners Steven and Tinka this restaurant doesn’t disappoint. I think it used to be a pizza restaurant, but it’s so much more now! The menu is well appointed with something for everyone. There is still pizza and also an assortment of delicious options ranging from the diet conscious to the decadent! My group ordered lobster mac and cheese, buffalo mac and cheese, eggplant parm and the wings. Everything was top notch, the lobster mac and buffalo mac were generous portions with tons of real meat and excellent flavor. The eggplant parm was perfectly breaded and the sauce was out of this world good. The wings ordered were more of the “campfire” style and were will seasoned, large and cooked to perfection. We topped everything off with a champagne from their fine selection of beers and wine and were in heaven! Don’t miss the B&B should you have the chance; you won’t be disappointed. A great patio and easy access to the water make this a superb spot for summer days. The cozy interior and warm service make this a must stop on cooler days. Ideal spot for a date with or without a...
