Ive been going to this park since 2001. Had it's up's and downs and currently in it's downs. I was exited to see many projects happening during the late 2018-early 2019 renovations but at what cost, all the big fields are closed. Their excuse at the community meeting was "we want to make sure the grass is safe for you to be on". or "feel free to let us know and we will open the gate for you". As a runner myself I had almost fell by stepping over a soccer ball rolling my way, and as a soccer player also this is the reason why the big fields should always be open to prevent those scenarios. Kids and young adult should not be jumping over the gate to enjoy the space. We are tax paying people, we deserve to enjoy every bit of it. locking the gates to the soccer field is like putting lid covers with locks on the basketball court! can you imagine the outrage in that. Wonder why the US soccer team isn't the best, because most fields in america are locked. it starts like that. This park indeed is nice but we aren't utilizing it well. Oh, Homeless now camp here.
2025 Edit : If you want to see a Homeless and gambling exhibit have came to the right place. Everyday there is a new Homeless along with their moving house (car) joining the community Park. Its out of hand and out of the control of the Admins of this park. These arent you typical "Down on their luck" homeless anymore, they are people who just sit around drink alcohol and relieve themselves on the parking spaces and around the park when the restrooms are closed. Watch for needles and human waste. Especially for those who park their cars for the baseball games! Watch for dogs who arent on the leash and watch for the young adults speeding on their gas power mini bikes. I remember when the elders used to play cards in peace and on the low, now its straight out Gambling with booze and loud music playing. The women don't feel comfortable using the new restrooms with all that happening along with...
Read moreI've taken my daughter here many times and have seen things that should not be seen at a playground. Its not every time but on more than one occasion I've seen a group of men with their brown paper bags in the middle of the park talking and drinking. There have been other days that high school kids get out early I guess and plop themselves down everywhere on the playground equipment and refuse to move when little kids want to slide down the slide or play on the playground. I myself have always wanted to go walking around the park as I see many people do but walking around the park by myself leaves me feeling really unsafe as I get closer to the railroad side and see rows and rows of men playing cards. The remarks and cat calling I heard walking by was enough for me to never want to walk by again. I have seen a couple of times a police cruiser driving through the park but not sure if thats...
