Current Resident – Find Somewhere Else to live; ANYWHERE ELSE. IN RESPONSE TO THIS GOOGLE REVIEW, LEASING AGENT MAYA TAYLOR FILED A COMPLAINT AGAINST ME WITH THE HYATTSVILLE DISTRICT COURT. SERVICE REQUESTS I visited the Highline Apartments in Hyattsville and was initially impressed by the building’s charm, amenities, and location. I signed a 12-month lease after a great tour from leasing agents Quay Coleman and Mattew Bloom. However, after they left shortly after my move-in, my experience turned frustrating. The new team, particularly Assistant Property Manager Kiara Jamison, has been unhelpful. I've dealt with serious issues like contaminated water (RAW CHICKEN BLOOD) pouring into my kitchen from the neighbor above due to flooding, and the lack of heating in my apartment since August 2024, despite it now being February 2025. Snow falls outside, yet I'm left with only an inadequate space heater to stay warm. Lucy and Kiara also live on the property. Imagine the two of them going home to a warm Apt each night while they sit idle for months as I try to stop shivering long enough to get to sleep at night; I don't sleep much, I keep getting sick, and it's costing me a pretty penny to power the space heaters. Kiara spent most of last week gaslighting me, and she couldn't care less about this issue. MY HEAT HAS NOT EVER WORKED IN THE 7 MONTHS I HAVE LIVED ON THE PROPERTY. I've consistently reached out to Kiara, who dismisses my concerns, while Property Manager Lucy Armstrong is in the loop but remains unresponsive. Maryland law stipulates I should have heating when temperatures drop below 60 degrees, yet both Lucy and Kiara seem to think my expectations are unreasonable, leaving me without adequate heating during winter. PET FRIENDLY BUT PREJUDICE AGAINST NON-PET-OWNERS The property has a great park for pets, but it's underused by pet owners. Instead, they let their dogs run freely & make a mountains of poop next to my only windows. I’ve reported this & the maintenance supervisor, Eduardo, suggested I film the excrement leaving to the dog's body to help identify the owners. I was shocked. Realizing this was going nowhere, I stopped asking and now live with the blinds closed. SECURITY The call box malfunctions about twice a month. When it's working, the doors don’t secure properly, with functional doors lighting up green and non-functional ones red. If the leasing office can't arrange timely repairs, they leave the main door propped open, allowing anyone to enter without an entry code, which poses a serious safety risk. CUSTOMER SERVICE My experience at Highline has been terrible, and I can't wait to leave. The leasing staff often ignores residents' requests and only communicates when it involves rent or while retaliating against residents. I and my guests also faced verbal assault from a leasing agent named MAYA TAYLOR. PARKING Parking in the garage is $175.00 per month, which is higher than nearby communities where rates range from $50.00 to $100.00 for a designated spot. At Highline, there are no designated parking spots, and spaces operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so you may pay for parking but still find no available space. AMENITIES When I moved to the community in August 2024, I was drawn to the photos and room styles. However, since the arrival of the new Property Manager, Lucy, and Assistant Property Manager, Kiara, along with an abusive leasing agent, MAYA TAYLOR, residents' access to community spaces is now restricted to Leasing Office hours. Many residents feel this response is punitive and unjust, particularly for those of us adhering to the rules. Unless you're unemployed or work nights, you have little chance to enjoy these spaces. Once the leasing office closes, access is disabled, and doors are padlocked, raising safety concerns, especially in case of an emergency.

Do NOT live here. I lived here for 3 years and moved out Oct '24. When I first moved in the leasing staff was good and accommodating. Ever since Greystar started managing the leasing office, things have gone horribly wrong. When I moved out I expected some of my $1800 security deposit back. The leasing office sent a move-out invoice. Not only did they keep the entire security deposit but they requested an additional $50. For reference, I was a single female with no kids, no pets and a non-smoker. I left the apartment in good condition. I was charged to replace a carpet that already had stains on it when I moved in. I asked the leasing office to refer to my move-in documents where I noted the stains and they ignored it. I was also charged for a window that i did not crack. I requested proof of these high expenses, and the leasing office gave me invoices for other units. The invoice for the carpet replacement was $158 less than what they actually billed me for. They were slow to respond to my emails. After more back and forth I decided to put it all behind me and STILL ended up paying them an additional $15.31 as full and final payment for everything. A few weeks later I received an invoice from Greystar stating that I owe an additonal $806. (See the attached). The invoice is very confusing. The left chart shows my last month rent payment, concession payment (this is actually a rent discount), a random credit for $57.98 and my security deposit. The right chart lists the charges which are the market rent as well as the three other damage charges, an electric rebill charge for $57.98 (i paid pepco in full already), and a random balance for $756 with no description of what its for. Ever since Greystar took over, NO ONE in that office picks up the phone....ever! Now I'm stuck arguing with Greystar about this alleged balance which I hope will get resolved soon. Pleaae document everything when you move in. Please keep a copy of all move in/move out documents. The only good thing I have to say about this place is that my experience with maintenance was good the entire time I lived there. They were always friendly, and promptly addressed any issues I had with my unit.

Avoid at All Costs – Misleading Promises and Poor Management I’ve lived at Highline Apartments for 15 months, and I can honestly say it’s been one of the most frustrating rental experiences I’ve had. When I signed the lease, management promised amenities like designated parking—but after over a year, I *still* don’t have parking. They continue to overpromise and underdeliver. To make things worse, management changes every 3 to 7 months, so the rules are constantly shifting with no consistency. The current leasing office is nearly impossible to reach, and when you do get in touch, you’re often met with attitude and unhelpful responses. The trash rooms are disgusting—overflowing with garbage about 80% of the time. Tenants even leave trash in the hallways outside the trash rooms, which is completely disrespectful to the people living nearby. Dog pee and poop are frequently left on the floors, and it’s clear that cleanliness is not a priority here. The amenities, which are supposedly included in your rent, get locked after 4pm. So if you work a normal job, good luck ever using them. It's ridiculous to pay for features you can't even access. On top of it all, they love to tape passive-aggressive notes to your door about fees and additional charges rather than communicating like professionals. Don’t be fooled by the photos or promises—this place is all flash and no follow-through. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere.

I am writing this review to showcase the customer service of one person specifically, Ronda Pompey, leasing consultant. I’m almost torn about writing this because it could mean more people will move here, but she deserves her flowers now. LOL! Yes, that’s selfish. :-) Ronda Pompey! RONDA POMPEY! I accepted a new position in DC and had to relocate from the deep, deep South. I sent online inquiries to a myriad of leasing communities in DC/MD. I visited a couple of places near Highline that I won’t name. Every single one of them was ridiculously priced for the square footage. I had to increase my already over $2,000 per month housing budget by $500-$600 and accept I’d have to struggle to live in this area. Literally, the same day I was to grudgingly sign my lease at a community near Highline, Ronda Pompey called me at work to ask if I was still interested in a tour. She said she’d reviewed some older inquiries and saw mine. She told me she’d stay at work that day until I could get off work to tour. When I tell you not only did she stay late, but, she patiently - and happily - walked me through multiple units, you must understand!! I kept apologizing for keeping her late and she kept saying it was not a problem and, she kept showing me different apartment layouts trying to ensure I had the information I needed for an informed decision. This doesn’t happen in leasing. You are at their mercy at other communities. How do I know? Understand: I was a leasing agent, a resident manager, and a secret shopper in my former career; I am now a business instructor/coach and have been for the past almost 20 years; plus, I’m a super observant woman who likes nice things. This is important because Ronda Pompey’s presentation, demeanor, kindness, knowledge, and willingness to advocate for me was superior! She was new to that building, and everything I asked her about that she was unsure of, she went to ask so she’d be accurate. When I asked about different concessions/discounts, Ronda said she’d ask her supervisor, Heather, and get back to me. She did. Heather agreed to everything I requested. This simply does not happen in leasing! I signed my lease for April 1. The entire process took less than 3 days from tour to lease signing. They were so incredible that by the time the process was over, I was bringing them snacks and introducing them to my friends. You must visit this property WHICH is gorgeous, high end, and less than other places. Additionally, it has a palatable youthful energy. There is no way this location should be more affordable than less convenient areas. By the end, I pay $600 less than the other places I considered. This includes a reserved spot in the building’s underground garage. How sway? To this day, Ronda Pompey and her manager, Heather still check on me and my moving process. I could continue but I think you get the point. Please, please visit and ask for Ronda. She’s the example of a little patience and kindness...

PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPLEX. I RATED 2 STARS SO MY REVIEW DOES NOT GET LOST. I am a previous tenant but I still feel the need to detail my experience for others but I'll keep it as short as possible. I moved in when this building was owned by The Bernstein Company. The property manager at the time, Heather got caught stealing tenant's money from the complex. $15 was stolen from me and my roommate for a "guest parking fee". I looked into that property manager's record and she's been to court multiple times one of which it seems for the same issue so I'm not understanding how she even got the job here. She was eventually fired and replaced with a temporary property manager who admitted that she did not know what she was doing. There was no notification of this from the rental company or property manager, I found out through the grapevine. This is a running track record with this property. Of our 12 month lease for 8 of it we were not able to use most of the amenities. The Moroccan room was always closed or rented out, the Rockstar room was closed, the cold brew machine thing never worked, the art room was closed, etc. We did not find out until our lease was almost done that the rockstar room was open again. It didn't matter because all of the guitars and the set of drums were broken and the microphone did not have a cord to plug it in. Useless. But sure you've "comped" my amenity fees DUH because nothing worked. The Bernstein Company eventually sold the property to Greystar a little bit before we left and they have got to be the most scummy rental company in The United States. When we moved we only got $500 of our $1800 deposit back. Why? Various cleaning fees and repairs they claimed they had to fix. I have videos of how the apartment looked before we left. We should not have been charged. You could never get into contact with the leasing office or the concierge. Concierge was never there half the time (except for Tiana). Dog pee and poop everywhere from bad dog owners with no consequences because half of their cameras didn't work.

As a side note they have an Amazon locker there for packages. I am STILL connected to the locker with the previous apartment number I lived in. It's been a year and I'm still getting notifications and codes every time the new tenants get a package. I've tried calling and emailing multiple times asking for my information to be removed for the locker with no response. This is a security risk.

I don't care what type of predicament you are in DO NOT MOVE HERE. Upon reading recent reviews it seems things have only gotten worse anyways....
