I drove by this While looking for the site of the H.H. Holmes Murder castle and was both surprised that It was still there and Enamored by its brilliance and beauty. A shining remnant of the glory that was the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. To think that this statue once overlooked the grandeur of The world’s fair’s beautiful White City, of which only it and The museum of science and industry still remain. Truly a hidden gem of the south side of Chicago.

She’s also a huge statue, but somehow also still hidden by trees until you get to her. I always find it magical, and highly recommend driving out of your way to go by her!

Went to the Garden of the Phoenix for the Cherry blossom festival and then walked 15 minutes to the Statue of the Republic. It's a beautiful statue, which is a smaller replica of the one from the 1893 World's Fair that took place in this area. It is in Jackson Park near the golf course. A few road closures in that area due to repairs...
