Imagine a business that caters to such a specialized crowd/fanbase. Now drop that business right in middle America. For a true Whovian, such a business would be a dream, at best. Who North America is that dream come true! It was well worth a few hours in the car just to see this place. If it is Doctor Who related, they have it. You want to see a dalek up close? Maybe even have one greet you at the door? You are in luck! Want to stand next to the TARDIS? I did that! If you turn right, you will find yourself in their museum. I have never felt myself transported straight back to childhood so fast (it was like time travel or something). So much amazing! Now I regret not taking pictures of absolutely everything. I felt like it would have taken hours more than I had to give each piece the attention it deserved (next time!). If you turn left, then you move into the store. That's where I cursed my life for not coming from a rich family. A great, fun place all the way around. The only bad thing I can say is that there is so much on that side that I felt like my brain lacked the ability to take it all in. It was all very well organized and labeled. I just couldn't figure out where I wanted to start. The gentleman working the counter was friendly and, even though I could tell he's learned to avoid the gaze of a manic fanboy, he was helpful and fun. This is a place that I suspect will only get better with multiple visits, and I plan on testing my theory. Oh yeah, they do have more than just Doctor Who merchandise, you know, for those that are into that...
Read moreThe final stop on our trip to Indianapolis, we had missed this twice before due to lack of time (if only we had a TARDIS...). We were not going to miss out again.
We were both so happy to finally get to check this place out, and it did not disappoint.
They showcase the history of the show through collectables on the museum side. Bobbie and I especially loved the crocheted Doctors.
There's a screening room that shows episodes of Doctor Who all day long.
My favorite was the Doctor Who pinball machine set on free play (I wish I would have thought to record a video of it, but I was too busy playing it, lol). I remember playing it over and over when I was younger. (There's also a Star Trek Voyager shooter here, though it was strange they were guns and not phasers).
There is a ton of merchandise to buy on the store side. Bobbie found a few things, but unfortunately, they were out of the license plate cover I was looking for (my other vehicle is the TARDIS).
There were also a few things from Flash Gordon, which I thought was pretty neat because we were on the same show (Stargate SG-1, though not the same episode), plus, it's Flash Gordon, what's not to love?
I highly recommend visiting here if you love Doctor Who! There are Daleks and a Cyberman that are motion...
Read moreWe live close by and just have never had a chance to stop in. I am not a Dr Who watcher but my son just started. There was an event that popped up on my FB feed and it was free and a beautiful day. The event was not mind blowing but with that said we had a great time. They had people directly traffic and they took their jobs seriously lol. Very well informed and helpful. Every person we came in contact with was extremely friendly and polite. There were more people than the venue could technically handle but everyone was still nice and polite. The vendors outside were all different. There was a food truck and games that were pay to play and even some free ones. It was a great experience with good people. Even if your not a fan it is worth stoping in and looking at store and museum. Thank you for offering the event and making it so easy to navigate. I worked in events for 20 plus years and this was honestly one of the easiest ones...
