Mercer Park — Attraction in Iowa City

There has never been a more beautiful Park. My niece's could have played for hours and they did Play 4 hours. The playground is big enough that adults can help their kids and enjoy their kids on the playground. There are things on the playground for kids of all ages. The playground is just simply gorgeous. The area is beautiful. You will catch a breeze even on a hot day. I even got to see both of my nieces ride their bikes. They were so excited to show me their skills. The park is located in an area that is fairly quiet and the traffic is low key. Parents would not have to be afraid that there would be cars flying through there. There are two diamonds, one baseball and one softball on the other side of the playground that keeps the area surrounded by land. Again, like I said this playground is beautiful. On a low key day, one could take their children to ride their bikes in the huge open parking lots because because it is safe and those are also surrounded by the playground and the Diamonds. The park is ok for kids like 4 and up. The pool area doesn't answer their phone so unfortunately you cant reach the pool for hours but you can by calling customer service tho!!! The people at the desk are super helpful. We walked into pool area and they had a stereo with cord straight infront of the door so my toddler tripped and almost fell. Common sense lacking even with a large group doing cpr training.

I'm only giving this park 4 instead of 5 stars because of the lack of restrooms at the playground (you have to go inside the building with the pool to use the restroom) and overall safety concerns. There are a lot of shootings that take place at this park which is a real shame because the playground equipment is AWESOME! I love that they kept (and renovated) the original fire truck play equipment, and they have so many awesome things for all age levels and abilities, and it's ADA accessible and approved which is wonderful. A few more swings would be nice as well, but I do love that they have swings for all ages and abilities as well. We'll definitely be back, we'll just be careful about the time we come for...
