MOLD WARNING - PICTURES INCLUDED I lived in Parkwood for almost 5 years. Everything was all fine and good until the roofs started leaking a few years into my stay. Parkwood sent vendors on numerous occasions to try to repair the leaky roof (unsuccessfully). To keep a long story short, Parkwood waited until they got an unmanageable amount of complaints before they decided they could not cover up this problem anymore. The roof rebuild started in the beginning of 2019. The problem is that mold had already begun rapidly multiply between the walls and above the drywall because they did not address the problem sooner. Just as the rebuild was scheduled, MOLD surfaced above our bed and by our closet. After relocating us to a Marriott for approximately 10 days during a remediation attempt, we finally moved back in thinking the worst was over.....BUT within a few days, mold had resurfaced AGAIN very close to where it had originally surfaced. This was after Parkwood told us our apartment was safe/habitable (when it wasn't) displaying yet another blatant disregard for our health and well-being! Parkwood did not even require their incompetent vendors to test for airborne mold spore levels (before or after their shoddy remediation attempt). So we took it upon ourselves to hire a professional mold inspector to assess how bad the situation was and to test another unit within Parkwood that we could potentially move into instead of enduring another remediation attempt. Well it turns out the airborne mold spore content was off the charts in our apartment (92,000 spores per square meter by our bedroom closet). We also found out that both our apartment and the other unit we were considering had moisture damage between the walls that far exceeded the 15% threshold needed for mold to grow (within the exterior building walls), which by the way, Parkwood did not mention any plans to address wall rebuilds, despite the high probability of mold there too. So in summary, pure deceit and complete disregard for tenant well-being from Parkwood Management and The Irvine Company.
In conclusion, after I did a bunch of research on mold illness and Mycotoxins, I finally had an explanation for all kinds of weird health problems that had inexplicably developed over the last two years and were exacerbated by certain foods and drinks that increase fungal growth (as if breathing in fungi for years wasn't bad enough). Do yourself a huge favor, do not move into any place without getting a professional mold inspection done if the building is older than 10-15 years. Or get a professional mold inspection done now if you suspect mold in your current apartment. Mildew/musty smells in your apartment is one indicator, yellow stains on the roof is another. That Mold report may just give you the grounds to get the hell out of your lease (as it did for me) and possibly prevent toxic health damage to you and your loved ones. Cut your losses and avoid mold at all costs, or it will seriously start...
Read moreI have several reasons to be HATING the apartment! I tried a lot of times not to write a bad review and to just let them know in person or by calling them but despite of trying it both ways, there are literally NO improvements. Below mentioned are my reasons: The apartments are extremely dirty and filled with BUGS. Before you decide to go with them, I suggest to check the entire apartment's carpet especially in the corners to see if there are bugs or not. I have called the ex-terminators(had requested them from leasing office, they call them) nearly 5 times and I can see no progress and I have been seeing different kinds of bugs now like carpet beetles and so on. (I have been renting this apartment since past 2 years now and I would like to move away as soon as I can!). I am tired now of calling them and making complaints and I just have got the bug spray from a grocery store and spray it every alternate weekends and vaccum it (Its a huge pain!!) There is no enough parking! There is a huge parking strip and it is reserved only for "Employees". There are I think about 30 parking spots just sitting there and getting wasted because the employee parkings at the max just has 5 parking cars to park and nobody else can park on it so those parking spots are wasted. I think they should really do something about it rather than just wasting the space for nobody to park (Especially when there are lack of parking spaces!). The kitchen counters are very old and not granite and easily stained! They have spacing's in them due to which it becomes really difficult to clean the counters! It is very old fashioned and becomes very tedious to clean the counters and remove the dirt from in between the spaces on an everyday basis if you are using the kitchen frequently. The patio is loose and it is hard for me to explain this via messages as English is not my first language but if I have kids visiting my apartment, I am scared to let them go in my patio (I live on the 2nd floor) as the patio is not tightly nailed! I can see the loose ends from the corners. And, on top of this they send notices to clean patios everyday when I already keep it clean and have no stuff kept in my patio! There is no separate trash cans for recycling waste. I dont know if they sort out the trash later from the common trash cans but I would really want to have separate trash cans to put recycled waste! It is EXTREMELY noisy early in the mornings at about 5 AM (NOT EXAGGERATING) because of the leaf blowers! After I complained, they said they wouldnt have the leaf blowers until 8 AM atleast but thats a false promise because till today, I still wake up because of the leaf blowers which they sometimes come at 5.30 AM, 6 AM or 7 AM and it is really really very frustrating. Lastly, the people in the leasing office are not responsive at all due to which my issues are still...
Read moreOnce again, I found myself relying on the wonderful property staff at Parkwood Apartments, where I've lived for over seven and a half years. This place has been home not just for me, but also for my son, whom I've chosen to raise in this community, and I can confidently say he's better for it. Last night, we were faced with an emergency situation that required the fire department and 911. As the responders were leaving, they advised me to contact the leasing office as soon as possible. Thankfully, I was already in touch with security, who was busy filing a report about the incident. Just ten minutes later, Vincent, a member of the maintenance crew, showed up at my door. He assessed the situation and immediately took care of the repairs, all while making sure I felt comfortable. He asked if he was intruding on my time, and I was taken aback—how could I possibly be bothered by his help? I was incredibly grateful for his quick response and support. After that, I connected with Edgar, the head maintenance man. Then, once the leasing office opened for the day, I spoke with Mr. Russell Scott. Each of them treated me with kindness, providing the information I needed and showing genuine care. Their combined support transformed what felt like an overwhelming and damaging situation into something manageable. I realized that with their help, my son and I could get through this. Without their assistance, I honestly don’t know how I would have navigated everything. Their caring attitudes were a lifeline during a really tough moment, reminding me how truly fortunate we are to have such dedicated people looking out for us in this...
