I went in to this place last week, looking for nes and genesis games. My son happened to find a UFC game for ps3 that he'd been looking for a while. I made my purchases along with the UFC game and brought them home. Unfortunately, we werent able to get the ufc game to work.
Today, my son and I went back to grab other game or two I didnt get last time (already had $50 in purchases last time) . We brought the UFC game back with us, and let them know we couldnt get it to work. While he was pulling his stuff out to test the game, my son and i went on and looked at the other merchandise. I found a couple genesis and a nintendo game I wanted (the nintendo games are in a glass counter). About this time, one of the guys working came over and informed me they were able to get the game running... I asked the guy if they'd cleaned it or anything. He said "no, i just put it in and it worked". I said, "sweet, we'll take that back then and I also want a couple of the nintendo games."
At this point the other worker guy comes over, and tells me "im not calling you a liar but we put invisible ink on our discs. Our new employees may forget to do it, so im not calling you a liar." Then proceeds to make points implying why Im being dishonest while telling me hes not calling me a liar. I already asked for the game back, before his speech, and his worker buddy informed him of this also, yet he went on.
Now, typically, this isnt a big deal. Ive been buying used games and sure, people have to look out for scams. But this guy decided to give me this speech IN FRONT OF MY SON. After what should have been very clear at this point that I wasnt trying to scam anyone.
Let me be clear about this. I brought this $17 game in with a receipt showing I purchased a total of $50 dollars at that time. When the guy said "we got it working" i saw the screen and said, great, Ill take it back. I'd made it clear that i'd just try the game at home again, and that I was making additional purchases this time as well. Yet, this guy wanted to lecture me, and imply I'm being dishonest IN FRONT OF MY SON.
He then goes on to offer me another PS3 UFC game for free on top of my game, compounding the implication that I was being dishonest to get something free. I obviously turned down that offer, despite his "insistence".
I didnt ask for anything. I dont lie, I dont cheat, I dont steal. I was chill in my approach to bringing the game back in. Ive bought used games for the past 25 years. At best, I was hoping they had another copy that worked, at worst, I know these used games are "at your own risk", so I was not counting on anything. when they showed me they got that one to boot fine, they'd done more than their part as far as I was concerned, so I wanted the game back. if the game runs, everything else is on me.
I'll leave with this...
Shop at your own risk here. Merchandise is fairly priced and in range with other shops. The shop itself is pretty decent, with lots of stock. With that said, Ive shopped here around 5 times in the 6 months or so, and the one single time I bring back a potential issue, they imply Im being dishonest and lecture me in front of my kid. Thats a dick move to pull on...
Read moreI contacted Tech N Gamer over the phone about getting my son’s damaged Nintendo Switch repaired. Joe was extremely helpful in explaining the cost and the timeframe that I could expect for the repair. A few days later I stopped in and was greeted by Joe in person. After logging my repair I decided to take a look around. The shop is clean and inviting with everything organized and easy to find. In addition to games and consoles they have a lot of swag which is really cool. I particularly liked the power glove holding a zapper that someone has wired into a lamp! I found a couple of NES and a SNES game that I was interested in buying and before I could check out, two new individuals walked into the shop. Basically one guy wanted to sell his Playstation to the other guy who Im assuming he found on Craigslist and had decided to meet up at Tech N Gamer to do the deal. They asked Joe if he could plug it in so that the buyer knew it worked before he bought it. I spoke up and mentioned how rude it was of them to walk into a small business and ask them to provide a service to facilitate a sale that they wouldn't profit on. Joe handled the situation professionally and earned me as a repeat customer. Later that evening I got a call that the Switch was repaired and ready for pickup (earlier than expected). No issues with the games or the console repair. If you have a damaged Switch I highly recommend their tech and...
Read moreI found the only shop in Ohio to my knowledge that works on guitar hero and rock band controllers and pretty much any video game console. They do repairs and all the stuff they sell is cleaned and tested fully before sold out. Unlike other used video game stores they just put in on the shelf not these guys. They fix clean and make sure everything is working like new. I’ve met the owner George he’s a very friendly guy he always gives good deals on trade in’s and treats his customers with tons of respect. I travel from north Columbus about 40 minutes to come to this shop when there’s plenty other ones closer but like I said they sell the best quality used consoles, games and accessories. I mean some of the stuff has been fully cleaned inside and out and even shrink rapped to look even nicer. If you’re in grove city definitely check these guys out bring your old controllers consoles in they will fix them for a fair price. The back of house guy working on this stuff is 100% best repair guy in Ohio, I went to ubreakifix and they were clueless compared to him. And the front of house guy Josh cleans my electronics and games very well. My stuff all looks new the way he cleaned it. I’m very satisfied with Tech N Gamer and will continue to provide my buisness as long as I play video games. Thank you guys for being an awesome team and taking care of the gaming community in Ohio. 5 stars...
