Cuba Hunter Park — Attraction in Jacksonville

They put in a new metal skatepark park similar to the old graffiti one. Decent street obstacles, half pipe with a spine, and large half pipe. Lots of kids play in the skatepark and what I mean by that is they don’t have a skateboard or scooter, they are just running around so it’s kind of dangerous. Jacksonville needs to update or add on to the playground and fix the swings so kids have things to do in the playground area. The playground (not fully fenced in) is a climbing playground so if a kid can’t climb or doesn’t want to this isn’t a good playground for them. A traditional all age playground should be added. As mentioned some of the swings are broken and take a lot of space being a big circle. They fixed the walking trail that goes over the marsh, all new wood. Trash is never cleaned from the marsh. The same trash has been there for years floating in the water. I was hoping when they completely redid the trail they would clean the trash but no. My heart is broken over the destruction of this park. Some picnic tables have been removed, swings are missing, the boardwalk wood is deteriorating, and litter is everywhere. The skateboard park is almost covered in graffiti, but is still ok as far as I can tell. Saddest of all, our one duck lies dead on the side of the road. It is a very depressing site. I am calling the city tomorrow. Please do the same. Several weeks later, the city did clean up the park. Trash was removed, mulch replaced, sidewalks swept. The adult swings are still missing along with the picnic tables closest to the boardwalk. The boardwalk is dangerous due to missing and rotted boards. The area under the boardwalk is heavily littered. Therefore, my new evaluation is three stars. Hopefully, our city will continue with the improvements. I love this park!! Finally a park with shade!! Their playground equipment is unique and for every level from toddler to adult lol. The skate park is great for beginners and TBH everyone that goes there is incredibly kind and patient with kids just starting out/learning. We've been multiple times and every single time we've had multiple older kids come up and offer to help and show my son how to do whatever it is he is doing that day. They have a big open field on the other side and I've seen many soccer games going on. The nature trail is actually a really nice peaceful walk surprisingly being so close to the playground. My only complaint was the condition of the bathrooms but at least they have a bathroom if your a Female just bring your own toilet paper and be prepared...
