I stopped in to see what it would cost to repair a loose power port on a Samsung tablet. The guy behind the counter looked it up and said "That's an $80 part." Considering the tablet was only $100 brand new I couldn't believe the part would cost $80. Maybe Samsung was charging crazy amounts for replacement parts to push people to buy new products? After the cost of labor I may as well just buy a new tablet. As they're located inside Reasors I went to do some shopping and decided to see how much I could find a replacement part for. I found exactly what I needed on Amazon from an off-brand for $14.
After my shopping was complete I decided to go back and ask the guy if they were using Samsung original parts or an off-brand. He said they use off-brand parts and when I brought up that I found it for $14 the story changed from "that's an $80 part" to "we have labor and taxes to charge." So it really wasn't an $80 part. Just to make sure I didn't hear him wrong the first time I asked my wife what he said the first time and she confirmed he said it was an $80 part.
I Googled how to replace the part and it is an extremely simple task requiring no special tools. There's a complete video on YouTube showing the replacement in real-time from start to finish and it is an 8 minute and 30 second video. So that means they're charging at least $66 in labor for less than a 10 minute job. That's $400 an hour in labor. Unless you're an attorney or someone in a medical field I'm not paying $400 an hour for anything.
If it had been $40 initially I would have paid it and never learned it was an extremely simple and cheap fix. So I guess "thank you for the outrageous prices." It prompted me to discover I could...
Read moreWent to the Jenks location inside Reasors and Robert was the gentleman working. Robert was an absolute pleasure to deal with. I arrived 10 mins early and of course had to get to work so I was in a hurry. He opened up and got to work for me. Another lady came in and brought him a gift bc he had helped her out yesterday and she was so thankful.
Robert explained everything to me, rushed to get the products fixed and had them fixed in the quoted time. I didn’t have a phone for him to call me so this was very much appreciated! Robert helped me make the right choice on purchasing a new phone vs fixing our two phones we were having repaired. He gave us a great rate and even through in a screen protector to help us ensure we didn’t end up in this same predicament again :) THANK U ROBERT FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!! If we ever need repairs again we will be back just bc of your exceptional service and...
Read moreService providers were friendly and place is convenient, just wish it wasn't do darn expensive...but that may have to do with the expense of phones.
Don't expect to be able to drop off your phone before grocery shopping and then get it back when done. Most time it takes longer than that but they will give a pretty close estimate on time. The service techs will call you (to someone else's line obviously) when done. I would recommend dropping it off during lunch break and getting it after work if you work a 8 to 5 job.
If you get a warranty (sold.by a 3rd party) I would HIGHLY recommend you have them walk you the registration steps as you may have just wasted money buying it.
Their selection of cases is limited but they do have some and other accessories to select from.
I have dealt with one other phone repair place and this place beats...
