Waldo Stadium — Attraction in Kalamazoo

Great place to root for the home team. Love seeing the "Welcome to Kalamazoo" signs along both sides of the stadium. As a Spartan, I don't think I've ever noticed a "Welcome to E. Lansing sign anywhere on campus - but I think that speaks to the unique unity that WMU enjoys with the city it exists within. The stadium is clean, comfortable and easy to enter/exit. There are some parking challenges to be sure, but research the shuttle options if you are coming in from out of town - those can take a lot of stress out of the equation and save you some walking. I noted a couple other people that commented on the concession prices being too high, but I found them to be quite the opposite compared to my experiences at Spartan Stadium or the Big House. Won tickets to this past Saturday's home game against San Jose state from my new job. Once we parked and walked to a gate we were rudely informed that my wife's purse was "too big" by their standards to be allowed in. Walk back to car and put purse in trunk. Go to different gate only to find out that out seats are inside and we'll need a mask. Even though both of us are fully vaccinated. I didn't bring one and hers was in the car. Ended up having to sit at the top of the stands to watch the game. Maybe someone at WMU should make it more obvious that things like this are required or prohibited besides on a website or only posted...

Hardly a bad seat in the house. Sound system could be upgraded slightly: lots of distortion due to overdriving the speakers. Not louder, clearer. Need to make better, more consistent use of the big screens for replays. Band is very, very good. They truly are the spirit of the stadium. Very active. Sound great. They also need to get concessions figured out. Way understaffed. Even with my "concerns," I enjoyed myself far more at Waldo Stadium than I have in my recent visits to Spartan Stadium and UofM stadium.
