Great time seeing a local cover band at/on Keansburg Beach!! I don't go to Keansburg very often and used to go there when my kids were younger for the water park on occasion since we already had Six Flags season passes (I love rollercoasters!). And they have weekly live concert or band events which I just found out about.... and currently I'm going through withdrawal of live music and concert with Covid (usually go to about 30+ rock, metal, grunge, punk or alternative shows each year)... I don't even remember the name of the band and their focus was on contemporary rock and played music by The Ramones Billy Idol Tom Petty which worked well for me (not a big Bruce Springsteen fan and they played some of that too). The people or attendees were friendly everybody seemed to have kept their own distance/ practicing social distancing which was a concern. After the show we did take a walk to the amusement park area which was still a little lively and there was a bar there which was open, serving drinks outside till about 10 so stopped for a drink... or two... Overall had a better time than expected. I think they have concerts going on each week during the summer so if a band plays music that appeals to you I would highly suggest you do it ...you can always move yourself anywhere you want to be, close to the stage or away from people... I chose moving close to the stage and away from people, rocked, danced and had fun..front and center...that me...lol. Do...
Read moreThis beach should be closed. We regretted taking the drive immediately. We were looking for an escape from our local beach, which has become overcrowded and unpleasant with vendors. We read previous reviews and thought this beach was exactly what we were looking for. We couldn’t have been more wrong. The water is not safe to swim in. There is a sign that says water quality is being monitored but the guy must be on vacation or retired. The water is not just murky to the point that you can’t see the jellyfish and horseshoe crabs sneaking up on you, but there is so much trash and oily film that you do not want to go further than a foot or two on the hottest of days. Take a nap and enjoy the warm breeze, you say? Good luck with the competing music blasting (people, music that only you like with commercials on blast is not ok!) and the sand fleas nibbling at your feet from all of the damp trash around. There are also horse shoe flies that sting with no mercy. We needed insect repellent! The water is a dirty brown color and you get the feeling that there is either deep seepage from landfills or some other kind of pollution stream. When you get home, your suits smell and you can’t wait to shower and get the grime off with a stiff pumice. The only saving grace was the Puerto Rican restaurant on the street side with amazing...
Read moreI am writing to report a health concern following a visit to Keansburg Beach on Monday, June 23, 2025, with a group of friends and their children. The next day, we all experienced red, itchy bumps across various parts of our bodies. Upon researching, we discovered these symptoms align closely with seabather’s eruption, commonly referred to as “sea lice,” caused by microscopic jellyfish larvae.
We did not observe any warning signs or public notices—either at the beach itself, in the parking area, or online via the Borough or County websites—before our visit. Consequently, we were unaware of any potential risk and couldn’t take preventive steps to avoid the reaction.
I am bringing this to your attention so you can consider: • Investigating recent reports of jellyfish or larvae presence, • Posting warning signs at the beach and parking lot, • Issuing advisories on the Borough’s website and social media, • And informing the public about symptoms and preventive measures.
We sincerely hope these actions can protect other beachgoers—especially families with children.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I would greatly appreciate any updates or guidance you...
