HORIIBLE EXPERIENCE. I took my family to Runaway Rapids on Friday, 8/09/19 figuring it was a nice day to relax in a water park since it was such a beautiful hot day. It was anything but fun. 3 different camps arrived at the park and all hell was let loose. In the kiddie area, kids ran up the slides with absoulety no supervision from their camp counselors. One of the kids from the camp would not let other children down the slide, he was holding them back & only allowing camp kids. I went to talk to one of the life guards to let them know what was going on and I was told by her that she can't "micro manage the camp kids". I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager on shift. That conversation got me know where. The manager saw the chaos that was going on and rolled her eyes and said "She'll try to speak to the counselors to get the kids under control". It never happened. The camp kids ran around the whole park, cutting lines, knocking down small kids, jumping into the lazy river at any entrance they chose too, tossed around tubes anywhere they pleased. 3 camp kids were actually advised by a counselor to go and pee in the hot tub because there was a line for the bathroom. At that point, I've heard & seen enough. My daughter was knocked down and denied rides enough. It's unfortunate that life guards and managers have no control over this park. I paid for my family to be there just like the camp kids. That park and it's employees turned into a disgusting mess. It's a shame because it was once a really nice place to take the family. I will NEVER take my family or friends to Runaway...
Read moreDo not come here. They are dishonest and will lie about their services and will overcharge you. I drove here three times in the summer from Manhattan, which is a 1.5 hr trip.
They advertise all these great slides. The problem is that especially for the toddler/young kid slides, half of them probably won't be open for you.
Specifically, we would get there in the late morning. There would be lots of people. We'd buy tickets for a 3 hour window. But they would refuse to open three of the kiddie slides until the place was absolutely packed in the mid-afternoon and we had only 20 min left in our time slot.
A bunch of them at the front desk told me the slides were temporarily closed due to "maintenance issues." The first time I went, I believed this. But then I found out from chatting with lifeguards that this excuse was nonsense. There was no maintenance going on. In fact, "maintenance" is just "code" for refusing to hire lifeguards to man the slides until the place is absolutely jam-packed. The lifeguards actually used the word "code" in apologetically explaining this to me.
This happened all three times I was there. "Maintenance" in the morning (when there are a lot of people but not completely packed) and in the midafternoon, the "maintenance" issue magically resolves itself (when the the place is packed).
In sum, they advertise a great selection of slides, but don't be fooled. Especially for the toddler/young kid slides, chances are that half of them will be closed, and you'll discover this only after you've paid the full amount and...
Read moreWORST SUMMER FUN DAY EXPERIENCE EVER!!! We are super disappointed and feel like we got taken advantage of. Brought my 12 year old daughter and 10 of her girl friends to the park for her birthday. We were charged the full rate for 3 hours which is a reasonable price. Once we entered the park we found out the best slides were closed. Girls that age want to go on all the slides especially the larger ones. The only thing open was 1 double tube slide, the lazy River and the little kids water park. I asked the girls at the front desk if there was a manager around and she said she was. Total surprise. If she was 16 she was old. Anyway, I asked when larger slides would be opened. I figured it was early in the day and had just arrived so that the slides would eventually open. She told me no, that those slides were under maintance. I was taken back. I asked how can you charge people full rate when 2/3 the parked was closed. The girls were super disappointed. Especially my daughter. It’s was suppose to be her fun birthday at the water park with her friends. I asked why wouldn’t you post that information somewhere? My wife immediately checked the parks website and nothing. I think that is horrible business and we where pretty much taken for fools. Why is the world would a park do maintenance on a Sunday in the summer time and not post it anywhere. I’ll tell you why… b/c they would lose a days revenue. Greed, basically! We will never think about coming back and I would never recommend it to anyone else!!! WORST SUMMER FUN...
