We were having lunch next door and noticed some sculptures on the levy. The area is known as LaSalle’s landing. This is the spot where in 1682 the French explorer, Robert Cavalier De La Salle, landed in a small Native American village. He marked the spot, claiming the land for Louis XVI, King of France.

Nice stop to let the Shelties get out. Gets you up on the levee and see the river and ships go by. Mississippi River walking trail right over the levee. Several local attractions within walking distance too. Only negative was an old damaged boat dock right out took away from the river view.

Perfect location to pull over (free parking right in front ) and take in the gorgeous setting and view of Mississippi River. You’ll most likely catch big barges ships on their route and plenty of wildlife adaptable to the riverfront.

I've been visiting here over 20 years. For a while there seemed ro be an effort to maintain the landscaping and it felt safe. There's definitely a rising homeless persons issue where I rarely get out of my vehicle when I visit now. It's still a great entrance to the levee if you want to walk or bike that, but the actual landing is getting...

This is a good place to park while bike riding on the Mississippi River Trail. Unfortunately there is no bike trail access from the parking lot. Facing the river there is bike access from the police lot on the right. There is no bike access, so you have to lift your bike over several curbs. There are no signs indicating location...

The selection of Christmas themes was excellent. A variety of traditional holiday characters were presented by live actors( penguin, Santa, and snowman) were really nice.
