The kids had a wonderful time, however I was very disappointed in the way our fieldtrip turned out on Sunday October 20, 2013.
I have taken many fieldtrips to Green Meadows Farm over the years and this year was sadly a disappointing experience. We were a group of 30 and after check in, (which we were on time)...we had a 20 plus minute wait until they sent our tour guide to us. A super sweet girl named Stephanie. She was awesome, and the kids "clicked" with her. We discovered quickly though, that the family groups (which was about 120 people in this one particular group) to our group of 30, were allowed to "bump" in front of us and keep pushing our group off and to the side at every chance their tour guide could do it. Their guide would start yelling as soon as she would come upon our group, that "her" group was going next.. and then would proceed to put others in front of us. Very rude was their tour guide and she rudely disrespected our guide (Stephanie) at every chance and kept embarrassing her in front of all of us. This other tour guide was very unprofessional. At just about every station, "our group" was repeatedly told to hurry and her group would crowd us out.
We had one adult in a wheel chair and after being placed on the train by her husband (mind you... our group was the only one at the train), up charged the other guide and told us we had to go. An embarrassing situation for the wheel chair parent to be removed in front of everyone. This other guide was so insensitive. Sadly I do not know her name or I would mention her. We were bumped 3 times at the train, and 3 times at the cow milking station where our children waited patiently each time to be told they couldn't go just yet. It took us a lot longer to finish our tour, because we had to keep going back and trying to let the kids experience the whole farm, only to be bumped over and over again.
I had a couple of parents in my group who tried to talk to the manager on duty and was not pleased with her remarks or answers to the whole situation. Again very unprofessional even on the managers part. No apologies were given, no I'll check into it, No, that isn't the way we do things around here etc.
It became very evident that the groups get treated as Second Class Customers, pushed around...Groups of 20 + get in for $10.00 a person, verses the walk ins at $23.00 a person. Clearly if paying patrons of fieldtrip groups are not treated with the same respect they should do away with the field trips all together. There was no mistake that the $23.00 a person were treated to the "we go before the tour groups". Not a way to run a family establishment. Even at the Haunted House our group was told they were not allowed to enter because we were a "group". They went any way, they waited patiently and the kids wanted their turn as well.
Our guide Stephanie was so sweet and our hearts went out to her. We felt her embarrassment over the whole situation. She remained as professional and patient as she could under the circumstance in front of us, but after hours of this behavior towards her and our group from this other "guide", several of my parents had had enough, no employee should be put in that kind of an embarrassing situation publicly.
I hope the management and the other guides learn from this review that clearly an attitude adjustment needs to be made soon there or they will loose a lot of business. It was sad that we had people from the other (120 Family group) wanting to join our small tour group because there were to many in their large group. (YES... that was happening too)They thought it was ridicules to have so many to one tour guide...and truly that was the case yesterday!
Stephanie and Erin, you two guides Rock!!! Green Meadows....hang on to these...
Read moreWe've been to Green Meadows twice now, and this second time was a big disappointment. My attempt to coordinate a group function was fruitless after unanswered emails and lack of communication. I asked for payment logistics and never received a response... So I was unimpressed with the business office before we even arrived the day of our visit. When we did arrive, we purchased our tickets and were given no direction -- so we began wandering the farm aimlessly. We were stopped by a tour guide and asked why we left our group -- I explained that we weren't part of a group only to be told we should have been assigned a guide. We were then left by ourselves to hunt down a guide and join a new group. I disliked our guide -- She did not seem knowledgeable or poignant in her explanations -- She mentioned that she worked late the night before and arrived late for her shift that morning. She inserted several comments about her boyfriend throughout the tour which I felt was inappropriate. In addition to our guide being a real bust - we had to tour the farm at the pace of our group, which was large and slow. It took nearly FOUR hours to complete our tour --- which was about 2hrs too long for us. We got there at 10:30a and completely missed naptime -- which defeated the purpose of going mid-morning. (toddler parents know the importance of scheduling activities around naptime) Our hayride was a tractor-pulled tour of the backside of the property...which FYI is a tour of several old mobile homes, rotten pumpkins, a large burn pile, and emaciated livestock animals. Our group arrived at the train at the same time as another group -- so our group had to twirl our thumbs for the 15min while the other group loaded/unloaded (all of us with tired toddlers at this point) There was conveniently a soda vending machine which we all attempted to use, but it only accepts dollar bills, it does not accept quarters --despite having a quarter slot and no mention of not accepting quarters. If you're still reading this you'll be shocked to know that's not the end of our misfortune -- The final stop on our tour was a trip to the small animal barn -- that we again approached at the same time as another group (so organized!) -- only to find out that the small animal barn was locked. Neither of the guides had a key... and whoever they called to possibly bring a key was unreachable at that time. Our guide then concluded the tour without a visit with the small animals - so we missed out there. We passed the indoor play yard with no mention of it -- not while we waited for the train or possibly in lieu of the small animal experience. It was just never mentioned....and neither were the tortoises. The free pumpkins on our way out are exactly how you would imagine free pumpkins... small and unsightly. At over twenty dollars per person it simply was not worth the time or money this year. I've heard there are new owners -- I do think it looks better than it did last year -- but it appeared to be very poorly managed on our visit this past weekend. I'm not sure we'll return next year. I've had better experiences at Stanley Pond Adventure Farm, Uncle Donald's Farm, Long & Scott -- and Hunsader Farms. I advise you visit with a group at a group rate so there is...
Read moreI would love to share my experience at this beautiful farm. While approaching the venue, I was pretty impressed with how new it looked, and how well -kept it was. I loved that the place had many large trees, creating the much-needed in the summertime shade, bright colors of small buildings and attractions inside the park are very catchy and fun for kids and adults. I was very impressed from the start. This farm offers range of activities for kids. My daughters are 8 and 6 years old and both had a fantastic time. They were able to hold chickens and feed them, give milk to goats, pet rabbits, feed pigs with lettuce, ride pony, take a tour around the farm on the tractor/trailer.. they have cute play areas (like chalk house, kids playground, many photo props, picnic areas). The most impressed we were with service we received from one gentleman that works at that farm. I would love TO GIVE A BIG SHOUTOUT TO HAVIER (HAVI) for an amazing service he provided to me and my girls. Thank you, Havi, once again! His attention to people, willingness to help and ensure kids are having a great time is so priceless. He was involved in different areas and made sure no one missed any part of the activities they were offering. That truly made our day more fun and special. There was one more young man there who was helping with goats and pony rides. Very pleasant and easy to communicate with. I do want to mention that having a friendly face at the check-in desk would be a great addition. Unfortunately, when we approached the registration desk, especially being there for the first time, the person did not show that he wanted to be there, not that he was interested in who he was talking to. Later on, I overheard someone asking for information and the answer they got was: all info is online.. Which I was really surprised to hear. Not the best customer service approach.
I truly believe what will bring more people here and what makes it very memorable is people like Havi. Thank you again for such wonderful place. We plan to be back in July with...
