Very nice statue dedicated to “Roots” author and Pulitzer Prize winner, Alex Haley. The statue weighs 4,200 pounds and is 13 feet high. I’m visiting from out of state and thought it would be cool to see, which it was. The Heritage Square area isn’t that big, but contains a playground for children and across the street is Morningside Park. It’s a very residential area, so crossing the street is no hassle at all. And in another year or two, should he decide to turn around to look over his shoulder he’d also have a nice view of the coming downtown Smokies Baseball Park....
