This beautiful park has a large playground for kids with swings and picnic shelters right by the playground. This is on the west side with a parking lot. A paved walking/bike riding trail that goes around the park and through a wooded area that is accessible from the east or west side parking lots. The Kirkendall Nature Center (located on the same side as the playground) has specific hours for winter and summer, but it is a great place to visit. There is sand volleyball courts on the east side as well as basketball courts. There is a large hill on the east side as well that is great for sledding in the winter . Lots of trees and a portion of the Wildcat Creek flows through it too so you can go exploring along the creekside as well. Restrooms are up at the Nature Center and open all the time. Read moreI love this park! It is a mile to go around the trail and someone can build it into a daily or weekly routine. There is a nice forest detour at one part on the trail and they are currently building a monarch butterfly sanctuary.
I wouldn't encourage anyone to use the field though because it is uneven. Seems like it was farm land before and so the field was once rows for planting.

If you go to the playground, you'll notice it has quite the odd-shaped border. This is because it is the shape of our state if seen from above!
