Our adventure began aboard the Expedition Maui-Lānaʻi ferry, which took us on a scenic 60-minute ride to Lānaʻi, arriving at Manele Small Boat Harbor. The harbor, located on the southern coast of the island, is the perfect gateway for exploring Lānaʻi. Upon arrival, we met our driver, who guided us through a fun day of experiences.

Our first stop was the Lānaʻi Cat Sanctuary, home to over 650 friendly cats. The staff was incredibly welcoming and provided fascinating insights about the island and the sanctuary’s mission. We then made our way to Lānaʻi City, where we enjoyed the charm of the local shops and small-town atmosphere.

After returning to Manele Harbor, we took a leisurely five-minute walk to Hulopo’e Beach, a beautiful stretch of sand just steps away from the harbor. Hulopo’e Beach offers crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling, making it a great spot to unwind after a day of exploring the island.

When you arrive on Lāna’i by boat, you end up here in Mānele Harbor. Over the years, this quiet little cove has undergone a few beautification projects. The tropical plants are gorgeous, especially the frangrant plumeria trees. They even had a collection of awapuhi (shampoo ginger.) We appreciate the clean bathroom facilities, benches, picnic tables and shaded waiting area for the Expeditions Ferry. The Mānele store was added not too long ago. Sail Trilogy was an excellent adventure. We took the full day snorkeling tour to Lana'i. We were provided cinnamon buns and juice for breakfast, wraps and fruit for snacks, juices and popcorn while on the island snorkeling, and a chicken barbecue just before we left to return to Maui.
