Beaver Park — Attraction in Lafayette

The are 2 sections of the park, and also "Vermilionville", a theme park/cultural center (and restaurant) which is a reconstruction of an early cajun settlement. This is located in the larger section, which also contains a couple of baseball fields, some nice tennis courts and fishing ponds (complete with alligators). This section is on the airport side.

While its one park and connected by walkway (not recommended after dark), the sections are divided by highway 90, a 4 lane divided expressway.

I've been before and enjoyed the fishing; however this time was a total let down. The grass was so over grown you couldn't get to the pond and the ramp near boat launch seemed damaged couldn't walk on it, stayed 10 minutes and was ready to leave. The water is really nasty and smells horrible. We went because we wanted to ride our JetSki’s. Lots of sticks and trash in the water. Sad that people don’t know how to throw trash away in a trashcan so they decide to throw it in the river.
