JB Snubs — Restaurant in Lafayette

Walked into this little place and felt like I had just taken a step back in time. That time being, when people with beautiful, brown skin like mine were refused service. There were only white people seated, leaving and entering. I did speak and smile to a couple of people, but there was no return response, like I wasn't there. Not only this, the patrons that were seated stared at me with such hateful glares. It was chilling! The cashier hesitatantly and half as.ed, returned MY greeting. No, she did not greet me first. She continued speaking to others as if trying to ignore my presence. Someone came in after me, and she began waving and speaking to them. So, I said,"Excuse me, are you speaking to me?" She sharply said, "no". ((Because hell, I'm in your face, at the counter, and trying to place an order!)) The vibe was so 1950-'60!! (FROM THE STORIES I HAVE SEEN AND WORDS I HAVE HEARD FROM FAMILY AND MEDIA) So, I decided within myself that there is no way I would spend my hard earned money in that place!! I left. I would like to return, but not alone, with SEVERAL of my beautiful, brown skinned brothers...

Its a quiet mom and pop restaurant! Be aware that they only accept cash!

Edit: I keep coming back! This place is delicious and my favorite week day lunch date spot with the hubby! Menu has changed a little bit over the year so here's a photo!

Edit: Still coming back a couple years later! Absolutely love this place! The two ladies running the place are absolutely as nice as ever. I saw some comments about them being racist and that couldn't be further from the truth. They have welcomed me and my husband and made us feel right at home every time we come (i am hispanic and my husband is african american). And there have been several other people of color enjoying themselves at this establishment on the multiple occasions I've been here.

Loved coming here with my husband! We felt incredibly welcomed by the staff. The place has an old timey feel to it and is very small. This restaurant is run by two women and they are incredibly fast and efficient! They had lots of people coming and going

They are only open 10 am - 2 pm on week days, and they only take cash.
