As the Youth Director, I feel my review is somewhat biased. However, from the inside, the Cathedral is one of the few growing parishes in the Diocese. A large number of families have been added each year, and it's noticed at the 9:00 am Mass where children are certainly welcome. Fr. Chester has been a wonderful, welcoming, and compassionate pastor. There are plenty of community activities for the whole family and for specific groups (mother's ministry, Dinner by Design for married couples, women's and men's groups, youth group, and many more). The 11:00 am Mass is my personal favorite, with a truly outstanding choir and organist, incense, and an abundance of altar servers, the liturgy is truly elevated heavenward. The grounds are beautiful. The cemetery contains several notable people including Jean Mouton, General Mouton, Kaliste Saloom, Ambassador Caffery and more. The church architecture is a sight to behold both from the inside and out. The Live Oak adjacent to the church is 500+ years old (the second oldest recorded in the country). Lastly, the museum has several priceless artifacts deserving a look, including Bishop Jeanmard's vestments and monstrance. At the very least, worthy of a tour.
