My wife went to the museum two weeks in a row with different grandkids. Both times we were charged a service fee and a processing for using a credit card. The fees rounded out to about $2 a person. So that rounds out to approximately 25% in fees. We did not notice this until after the second time of going. We have contacted the museum 5 times to get a explanation of why using a credit card are these fees so high. No answer. Girls at front desk could not explain. We have asked to talk to management every time and no one has contacted us to explain.
So rant complete. We chaulk it up to a donation. We will not go back because of such. As for as the museum, just not worth it. At the most it took them maybe a hour with the show to go through the museum Sorry Lafayette just needs to do better Ok update. After approximately a week we finally received a answer on over charge from the director. Apparently they use ticket master and the extra charge is for ticket master and small extra charge is for using your credit card. It would surely be nice if they posted this some where so customers would not have to ask or inform your cashier so they would know to tell the...
Read moreI just spent 6 hours here (minus about 30min for lunch at the pizza place a couple of doors down) with 2 of my grandkids (ages 6 and 10.) They loved it! We saw 2 planetarium shows, "The Magic Treehouse," and "The Sky Tonight." I wasn't sure how the 6yr old boy would do in the 2nd show, which is aimed more at older kids, but the curator, David Hostetter, made it very interesting and he was so engaged he was even answering questions that Mr. Hostetter was asking, and remembering the names of stars that were pointed out. Some of the other exhibits that held their attention for a lot of time were the Virtual Reality games, the robot arms, the Crawl Space (with live insects and other creepy crawlies), and the Nano exhibit (especially the magnetic particles and the block city on a tilting table.) The last thing we saw was a very large TV screen where they could see themselves and interact with dinosaurs on the screen. They could have kept playing with those dinosaurs for at least another 30min, but the museum was closing. We will certainly go back...
Read moreI don’t remember the last time I went to the museum, probably as a kid, so I went for the first time as an adult this weekend and had a great time. The exhibit was great. However, I think whoever does the calendar for events should be more specific, or the website needs some revamping, as there was nowhere that said the exhibit for that day was tailored to children. Still had a great time, but it would have been nice to know what I was getting myself into. Also, the girl working the front desk was not very friendly or kind. I asked for 2 tickets for the exhibit and was told that was included in general admission and was not told how much the tickets were, nor was I given a receipt. She just handed me my card back and said nothing. Then, being as I’ve never been there before, I was confused on where to go, so went back to the desk and asked and was told “upstairs where all the people are.” Just not a very pleasant experience in that area but would still go back for...
