Lafayette is Colorado's first location to gain the title "bird city" through its bird habitat conservation efforts and programs. A big part of their efforts centers around Greenlee wildlife preserve, part of Waneka Lake Park

What an incredible place. I'm new to bird watching and decided to check this place out. I parked on a residential street that had easy access to the trail around the reservoir. It was so nice and quiet in the preserve area, that I layed down in the shade and took a mini nap. I saw several species of birds but have zero clue what they are. I'm gonna drag my wife with, next time I go. I think this may be a regular spot for me...

Greenlee is Waneka's smaller and much-less-trafficed cousin. It's an excellent spot to watch birds and listen to bird calls and birdsong.
