Although I'd rather take my chances on the real beaches just to the south, the region's only municipal beach realistically is a beach to be, as the city is finally recognizing one of its greatest tourist assets besides downtown casinos; waterfront recreation. What this means could be anybody's guess, as plenty of money will be redirected into getting this to beach standards. But for now......hop the road and head south......there, Louisiana's real beaches await you, as its miles of beach as far as the eye can see in both directions, unspoiled and untamed.
