
Although I'd rather take my chances on the real beaches just to the south, the region's only municipal beach realistically is a beach to be, as the city is finally recognizing one of its greatest tourist assets besides downtown casinos; waterfront recreation. What this means could be anybody's guess, as plenty of money will be redirected into getting this to beach standards. But for now......hop the road and head south......there, Louisiana's real beaches await you, as its miles of beach as far as the eye can see in both directions, unspoiled...
Read moreJust found out about this beach this year. I grew up on the coast and was suspicious of lake sand, it came through with flying colors. It is sand castle worthy. We went the weekend before Memorial Day to check it out, beach was clean unfortunately only bathroom was a porta potty,- reason for 4 stars. Hopefully the restrooms will open for summer. Great place to fly a kite, So glad I found a beach within day trip distance...
Read moreWe visited on Saturday September 6 and were thoroughly impressed. The sand was pretty, there wasn’t a piece of trash in sight, the water was relatively clear, and it wasn’t crowded. There are volleyball nets, a pier, and portable restrooms. The Children’s Museum of Southwest Louisiana is right next door, and Steamboat Bill’s is right across the interstate. What more...
