I was so offended when my wife and I and our service dog went into the store to get some meat and the Manager told us to leave. He stated that there are no dogs allowed in the store due to the fact that this was a grocery store. I continued to inform him about: Florida State Law, (FS 413.08) - Service Dogs of Florida (b) "Individual with a disability" means a person who is deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or otherwise physically disabled. As used inthis paragraph, the term:

"Hard of hearing" means an individual who has suffered a permanent hearing impairment that is severe enough to necessitate the use of amplification devices to discriminate speech sounds in verbal communication.

"Physically disabled" means any person who has a physical impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.

(c) "Public accommodation" means a common carrier, airplane, motor vehicle, railroad train, motor bus, streetcar, boat, or other public conveyance or mode of transportation; hotel; lodging place; place of public accommodation, amusement, or resort; and other places to which the general public is invited, subject only to the conditions and limitations established by law and applicable alike to all persons.

(d) "Service animal" means an animal that is trained to perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The tasks may include, but are not limited to, guiding a person who is visually impaired or blind, alerting a person who is deaf or hard of hearing, pulling a wheelchair, assisting with mobility or balance, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, retrieving objects, or performing other special tasks. A service animal is not a pet.

(2) An individual with a disability is entitled to full and equal accommodations, advantages, facilities, and privileges in all public accommodations. This section does not require any person, firm, business, or corporation, or any agent thereof, to modify or provide any vehicle, premises, facility, or service to a higher degree of accommodation than is required for a person not so disabled.

(3) An individual with a disability has the right to be accompanied by a service animal in all areas of a public accommodation that the public or customers are normally permitted to occupy.

Finally as I was leaving he apparently called to police to have me arrested for trespassing. I also had to inform them. I will never be going back to this store. The Manager, and the company as a whole are each being fine $5000 for this incident. They have an employee in the meat department a young man that's very nasty very rude he tried to harass me, he tried to pick a fight with me because I was talking to another customer about the prices and he come from behind the door struttin walking back and forth then he stepped in my face saying you talking to me you talking to me, walked off hitting his fist in his hands looking at me over his shoulder walking back and forth. That's no way to treat a customer no matter whether they talk about your prices or not that's no way to treat a customer, I reported it to the manager and it took a couple of days for him to contact me and he contacted me, what happened to him I don't know but I... I feel unsafe IF I go there now, but I've been there once since the incident happened and the manager told me that he would take care of it, you told me to go ahead and do my shopping and to come back to the register which was by the office so I went back to the register which is by the office and the item that I purchased was free... Imagine that... She told me that he said that it was taken care of okay he never told me to go ahead and get what I want it and it would be okay.... But that still does not solve the problem. I felt unsafe so I don't know if I ever plan to shop there again because I don't feel like I have to watch my back as I shop for grocery and I've been shopping at that grocery store before any of those people probably were born is I've been shopping there ever since I was a little girl and I am now 55 years old. So with that being said it is a shame that you have to subject yourself to treatment of the sort which is ridiculous. This is convenient if you live close by and do not want to travel to Walmart. Cleanliness is not the worst but for certain not the best. For a store that carries mostly meats its as clean as it can be. I have gotten meat from here and never had any issues. If you need a meat custom cut they can do this (most of the time at no additional cost) I do have to say there produce section is better than Walmart most of the time. I wouldn't say the produce is the best I have ever seen but its not ugly or damaged or squishy. The location is not in the best of areas of lakeland. Prices are in a way competitive. If your looking to save money I would shop here for meats & produce. Most groceries are marked at average prices (example: condiments, milk, and canned good). Your house hold items are about $3 over a regular price. ($3 additional cost is not bad if you only need one household item such as detergent or paper towels and you are already there. If you are doing a grocery run and need multiple things I would not recommend because $3 additionally after 3 or 4 items could be $10 you can spend somewhere else). Service is for the most part pretty good. I recently had a bad experience where the cashier did not count my money correctly and she was rude. The manager was able to fix the error so I wouldn't count it against them; they cannot control the reaction of the employees all the time. Overall I give it 3 stars because even though It could better in its service and the location is not the best; it was mainly clean & it has competitive prices in meat and produce as well as quality products.
