We heard about Chacewater and checked it out last Saturday. The wine, olive oils and staff were amazing. The tasting prices were quite reasonable (I think $5 for olive oil and $10 for seven wines), which I believe they deducted from the wine we purchased, but not sure about that.
There were four staff who made sure our glasses stayed full and answered questions. The grounds are beautiful and we felt very COVID safe since they now serve under a huge covered loading dock behind the winery. All the staff wore masks and the tables were at a safe distance from each other.
They were so good, we ended up buying ore wine and olive oil than we anticipated and decided to join the wine club, which is much less costly and easy to stop that others we have considered in the past. We look forward to returning whenever we are near Clearlake.
Following up two years later and we are still impressed. It was a very hot day in Kelseyville, so we were glad to taste inside the air conditioned tasting room. It happened to be the first day of “crush”, so we were treated to try a taste of these freshly crushed grapes. First time for me and it...
Read moreVery mixed review for this place. We had a wonderful experience with Merry, who greeted us and did our wine tasting. A wonderful, sweet and amazing person. She really went above and beyond to care for our party and create an enjoyable experience.
However, the owner is a rude, extremely aggressive jerk. I feel sorry for anyone he interacts with. He yelled at us about how our kids were playing with the bocce balls. It’s a game, and the balls are meant to be thrown. But for some reason he came riding over on his tractor from far away to scream at us to “control our kids” along with some other very rude insults and comments. He was so confrontational and screamed so much. It was truly unbelievable. Our children cried. Even the employees apologized profusely and said that he’s unfortunately a bully… their words, not ours. And I think that just shows the type of person he is. So enjoy your time here with the lovely staff but stay away from the owner...
Read moreThis was an excellent stop on our way south. A Harvest Host location with a very flat graveled area for parking next to horseshoe pits and bocce ball area with covered picnic tables. The olive oil tasting was amazing and their wines were also lovely. The 2021 Engine House Sauvignon Blanc was superb, as was the Petit Syrah. We arrived very near closing time but Merri let us taste wine & olive oil, made us a charcuterie tray to go and gave us an extra serve of vanilla ice cream with blood Orange olive oil (yes, strange but delicious) for my husband who was getting the RV set up. Highly recommend for anyone in the...
