My husband and I purchased tickets to attend one of the cocktail workshops with two additional friend couples in hopes of a fun night of laughter and friendship. We unfortunately showed up 5 minutes late due to unforeseen circumstances.A staff member named Max met us at the door and immediately snapped at us stating that we would not sit together because we didn’t purchase our tickets together or email them in advance that we were a group. We were surprised by his unpleasant demeanor, immediate hostility and lack of good customer service skills. We followed him to our seats and there was one couple sitting between our six seats. Since the seats were not assigned, we asked if we could just ask the couple to slide down. In a snide tone, Max replied, “I’m not asking them but you can.” We approached the couple who was making eye contact with Max and asked politely if they would mind sliding down two seats so that the six of us could sit together. Without even turning his head and while keeping eye contact with Max, he said “I like my seat.” The manager Chris then intervened, so we asked if we could either slide one of the empty tables near the bar or help him set up another table as a resolution. Chris quickly responded “no,” was speaking with the same rude and hostile tone as Max, and told us that if we leave we won’t get a refund. It felt as if we had been targeted since we walked in the door and felt unwelcomed. Our group decided to leave rather than be subjected to this treatment for a service that we paid for.
Two days later I decided to call in and speak to the owner. Chris answered the phone and didn’t let me get a word in edgewise. He immediately told me “you’re not getting a refund and the owner will back his employees not the consumer.” He told me he didn’t have time for this conversation and he hung up on me. Honestly I am speechless at this points. We have been patrons of boardroom for years along with our friends and family. I can assure you, we will no longer be supporting boardroom spirits and distillery because of the completely inappropriate and embarrassing treatment we received by Chris and Max. They could both use significant customer service training and a lesson...
Read moreI was at Boardroom with a friend for the fall cocktail workshop. We've been to Boardroom many times, but this was our first time at one of the cocktail workshops. It was a ton of fun! The drinks were easy to make. The way they had things laid out for each set of folks was super convenient. The portions were more than generous and you could have easily made multiples of each drink. I appreciated that I could also cut the recipies in half since I had an hour drive home after. Trivia was a blast, even if we only got 1 out of 9 questions right. With all of the ingredients for three drinks and a 4-pack of canned cocktails for each ticket, it's WELL worth the price.
I have to give Chris a particular shout-out. There was a large group together at a table and from the very beginning it was obvious to the while room that at least some of the group had already had quite a bit to drink. As the workshop went on the group got louder and louder to the point that it was hard to hear what Chris and Max were saying. They were asked a number of times to quiet down and some of the folks in the group chose to escalate things instead. Chris took the comfort and fun factor of everyone there into consideration and asked the group to leave. They weren't great about it and were taking video and threatening bad reviews. Chris stood his ground and didn't back down because it was important to him that the other 20+ people there were able to enjoy themselves. He handled the whole thing professionally and tried hard to keep the disruption to a minimum. Kudos to him for handling a...
Read moreWow! I think it's awesome that Lansdale is home to Boardroom Spirits. I stopped by on a whim after work one day and was greeted by one of the owners who treated me to a taste and a brief tour of the distillery. I can honestly say this was one of the smoothest and enjoyable vodkas I have ever tried. I'm not a big drinker of straight liquors, but I really like this vodka.
I was particularly impressed by Boardroom's commitment to Lansdale. Small communities are being overrun by large corporations, chain businesses and distant investors. This is a truly local business, dedicated to the future of Lansdale and Montgomery County and I deeply appreciate that.
Top it all off with being treated like and old friend even though it was my first visit and I'm a huge fan of this place. I can't wait to see what...
