Just spent 30 minutes reading this review section out of boredom and curiosity and, having been here a few times, I have to say there are some really silly 1-star reviews.
For example: issues with parking and location on Main Street. They have a beautiful corner location, and there is always parking somewhere within a 2 minute walking distance of the restaurant. This is completely out of the restaurants control, you want them to magically make a parking lot appear?.... in Lansdale?
The Food: my rating for the food changes every visit, but one thing that will never let me down are the CHEESE CURDS! Someone’s review said they’re like mozzarella sticks: WRONG. They’re consistently amazing and you should order them. With the restricted menu (Covid) we’ve tried almost everything more than once. The food has never been disgusting, but there’s a few items like the Nashville chicken sandwich that come greasier and messier than other times. Probably just different chefs doing things slightly different each time, but again, never bad.
The Service: I have seen amazing waiters/waitresses and I’ve seen new ones. We’ve only had one issue with a waitress taking too long to bring a check after we asked, but we typically enjoy not being checked on our entire meal. We always see who we believe is the manager and get a comfortable greeting/goodbye every time, cool guy! I think a majority of the negative reviews for service are probably for the younger and newer crew. You can see the timid-ness and awkwardness pretty clearly when you interact with them. I personally don’t think you can train customer service skills, I think it’s something that you learn by doing. It’s all about becoming comfortable and confident around people, they’ll get there.
OVERALL: good food and pretty friendly staff. Stove and Tap does a great job of doubling as a casual place to eat and a great low key dinner date location. 5 stars for overall great experiences despite a few of...
Read moreI wish so badly I could write something more glowing for this local spot. After moving to this area 2 years ago, and dining here five times, my mind is made up. Stove and Tap is the most mediocre and inconsistent restaurant I’ve ever been to.
Let’s start with the bar. Service: 4/5 However, they do not put coasters or even bev naps out for the guests. This results in condensation all over the bar area you’re sitting in and has deteriorated the bar top, and made an otherwise upscale bar look like a dive.
Service: honestly, I’ve never had a bad server or bartender, but they certainly aren’t presenting a professional experience. It feels like a decent pizza place level of service expectation.
Food: here’s where the issue happens, and for a restaurant, this is a massive issue. The food here is WILDLY inconsistent. I have had the same thing 3 times. 1/3 of the time - incredible. 1/3 of the time - edible, but lazy. 1/3 of the time, inedibly bad.
To me, after wanting so badly to have a decent mid scale dining place close to home, I cannot sign off on this spot, and it all comes down to management. As a veteran of the industry, the failures are 100% due to a lack of oversight and management. There is no spec to strive for from the bar to the floor to the back of the house. Not once in my five dining experiences have I ever seen a manager doing table touches. The management is the control, and the lack of proper management is what is leading to middle of the road service and food. They need to train a good GM to right the ship and steer them toward some level of consistently good dining experiences. They’re 65% of the way to be a very, very...
Read moreI almost pooped myself when I saw the prices. The food was ok, but not great. SOME Examples OF PRICING Would be, 4 coconut shrimps for , get this... 24.00 !! Mixed drinks range from 12- 24.00 each. I'm a food prep at Phil's tavern in bluebell pa. And everything we serve is absolutely delicious, big portions too, and we make everything from Fresh (literally) fresh ingredients , and homemade as well. Our food is incredible, and cooked to order. and for some reason is a lot more affordable than stove and tap. I don't get it... our food is absolutely incredible, A list food, and it's affordable, they didn't even raise prices when food prices went up. Stove and taps food is mediocre at best and will cost you a fortune, VERY SMALL portions, we ordered wings (8) hot sauce tasted like strait jalapeño but not hot , the blue cheese was gross,, it was very sweet, brisket flatbread (burnt) also very small with hardly any brisket, and a brisket dip, which are 3 very small , and mean small, taco shaped things with a piece of brisket in them that are about 1 inch long at best. Came to 104.00 not including the tip, after the tip 124.00. . I'm not trying to promote Phil's tavern, they do a great business without me saying anything. im just trying to wrap my head around stove and taps pricing. Its incredibly ridiculous, not going back.its not for me.or...
