Larkspur Community Park is a great setting for family events or just a place to let the kids play--after the Renaissance Festival for example which is located close by. This park can be a great place to meet people halfway between Denver and Colorado Springs or just take a break from traffic. The views are beautiful. There is a large covered pavillion that can be reserved in advance but also other seating options and three different play areas. There is a large elevated "tree fort" (plastic but awesome) with bridges, slides, and climbing options. There are swings, traditional and round, as well as other climbing areas. There is a large open field and to the east another smaller play area. Plus there is a baseball field as well.
There is lots to explore. I would say it is very accessible to all visitors. The bathrooms are clean. The plantings/garden touches are lovely, often showing a few native species. The gravel and dirt parking lot is large and well organized. There are some decent to good hearty restaurants to the west of the park within easy walking distance just across the road. It is not unusual to see a massive train go by, also across the road which kids and grown ups alike...
Read moreWe actually just stumbled upon this gorgeous little town leaving pueblo. I love to just seek out unknown or un realized sights and adventures wherever I go, and all though for a brief second I felt that get out vibe.... when we came upon this park all I could do is pull over. The town is small enough that u could see the children's castle from the road... it's absolutely 😍stunning I enjoyed having access to the jungle gym as many parks don't offer big enough spaces for parents to interact playfully with their children. This place is the complete opposite I actually wanted to climb for a minute. So I did... awesome look out deck and plenty of space to run and not get hurt. I think I'll be visiting it today as a matter of fact. Might take some pictures today as well. Larkspur is definitely a park you want to visit even if just one time.... pull off the highway and check it out only 5 min off the interstate and you blink you'll miss...
Read moreGreat park!! Clean, well kept park. Close to the foothills in a very natural setting yet 5 minutes off if I25. This is a great break from highway travel or an afternoon with the kids in a beautiful setting. The bathrooms are clean, and have all of the necessary supplies 90% of the time, which for a park is really good. There are numerous restrooms. There are covered picnic areas. And we have seen public activities ar the park like concerts, but we haven't participated in any. Even in winter, this park gets great sun midday, so its a great place for kids to bundle up and get out some built up energy. The play structure is newer and modern with lots of different areas for different age groups. There are very well kept gardens that attract alot of butterflies and bumblebees for watching. Great place to visit with local places to eat right across and...
