On a Sunday afternoon we decided to play tourist and we especially enjoy botanical venues and had not expected one in Hartwell. The first 30 or so minutes we explored and found the garden very enjoyable with much to see. But, then we ventured off the paved path and headed toward the a point away from the parking lot and out of nowhere came a hoard of mosquitoes hungry for a new taste of blood. We couldn't run fast enough to beat them back to the safety of the car. Not to be discouraged we will return to enjoy your garden again, but not until fall hopefully when the mosquitoes are dead. Read moreReally nice, beautiful place. I visited during the solar eclipse so we could experience totality. The gardens were beautiful! Really well maintained, plenty of parking, some helpful seating. There is a really pretty little area for weddings or other events. The day we went, there was actually a wedding occuring during the eclipse. We went further into the park. Well-paved paths and well-maintained trails plus excellent and informative signs to direct, educate and inform. There is a Little Free Library, geo-cache, water features and even tiny fairy gardens and a playground for kids.
