Allen Fieldhouse is the mecca of college basketball. It reeks of tradition and history. At KU the games are ALWAYS sold out because of the tradition of winning, championships, and Big 12 dominance. KU is the rightful place for the best arena and team because the creator of the game was the first coach, and his name is on the court to remind everyone. Also, Dr. Naismith's successor Phog Allen whom the arena is named after is the father of basketball coaches. Some notable players who learned from Phog are Adolph Rupp and Dean Smith who have gone on to win several championships at their respective schools. (who do you think they learned how to win from?). So you can say Kentucky and UNC are the best schools, but their championship ties to KU can't be ignored. Read moreAllen Fieldhouse is truly a cathedral of college basketball, and even for a non-competitive training game (Men's and Women's combined!), the atmosphere was incredible. The pre-game or intermission light and sound show was absolutely top-notch, it really set a fantastic mood and amplified the energy in the arena. The view from our seats was excellent, and the overall atmosphere felt electric. What makes this place truly special is the history. Having the names of all the KU basketball legends displayed everywhere is a powerful tribute. Walking through the concourse and taking in that deep tradition was a great moment. Whether you're a hardcore fan or just visiting for a game, the combination of the great production (lights/sound) and the tangible history of KU basketball makes Allen Fieldhouse an absolute must-see. We thoroughly enjoyed...

BUT, watching a game at Allen Fieldhouse is crazy! The energy inside is electric from the minute you walk in, wandering the halls past all the memorabilia from KU's storied basketball history. You enter the court area and see an almost endless array of banners for Final Four appearances, Conference and National Championships. Then they amp the crowd beyond belief with a light and sound show, thumping thru all the historic moments and the introduction of the team. The games are all different, but very often, after being behind, KU makes a run. When they do, especially if it is toward the end, well....Rock...
