This is a very nice gym for basically everyone trying to improve in lifting. Whether it would be bodybuilding, powerlifting, physical therapy or just general training for overall health. The gym is very hands on, the owner is present basically every day and there are constant improvements to the gym. From new equipment to high protein food and drinks being accessible right inside the gym in their own separate rooms. Overall the gym has lots of equipment. There are many machines with fixed weights or free weights. There are multiple squat bench and deadlift racks. 2 sets of dumbbells that go all the way up to 200 pounds (If you are that crazy). There is a cardio room that has step machines and treadmills; also there are multiple massage chairs for whole body and for legs. (Rowing machines and bycicle ones are inside the gym) There is a huge posing room with very nice lighting. There are also mini saunas, for one person, but they aren't allowed to be turned up too high and since we are in Texas you'll get the same effect by sitting in your car with air conditioning off. When it comes to cons, the gym is giant and metal, so it's hard to keep it very cool so right now during summer it's hard to spend their like 2 hours or more. But if you just come to get your work out in like an hour it's very manageable. There is no dressing room. Well, technically there is but it's unusable because everyone can see you there. But there are a restroom and a shower room which are comfortable enough to change in if you are desperate. The gym can get very busy especially during hours after work. However it's not too crowded and everyone is focused on their own gym goals and work outs, so it is very much manageable. The cost is mid-high, 79.99 for initiation fee and 49.99 a month, or you pay approximately 400$ for a year which saves quite a bit of money. Overall I would definitely recommend this gym unless you are struggling with money. The pros far outweigh the cons, and the cons overall are just small inconveniences that most of the time aren't even noticeable. Thank you for...
Read moreI would like to start off by saying I met a couple of great people, including Cora, who is a great trainer, and Alec, a helpful and kind front desk attendant.
When I toured the spot, I immediately spoke up about the parking lot being too dark. I was told that George, the owner, listens to the members, and I was told a day after that the more lights would be installed in the parking lot by the end of the weekend. Nothing happened. A month later I talked to George himself, who said the guys who were working on the lights inside were going to be working on the lights outside. Again, after a couple months, nothing. I was just told to park in the front, and that nothing bad has ever happened there.
So my safety concerns weren’t taken seriously, yet the price increased from $80 to $100. The claim is they are “value driven” over being money driven. However, being value driven means you are making sure everything you already have is up to par. Theres a treadmill that’s been broken for months, the deadlifting platforms aren’t that good, theres been a hole in the restroom wall that hasn’t been fixed for whatever reason. There’s one shower, no locker rooms. What is the value being added for an extra $20 a month?
The only good thing I would say is, at the times I would go, there were little to no people. There’s a lot of cool machines, but that’s not what adds value to a gym. It’s nice to have that, but making sure your gym is of true value means focusing on enhancing what you already have, ie, fixing holes in the wall, fixing platforms and broken treadmills. Otherwise, you just increased the price by 25% for no reason, which comes off as being...
Read moreI’ve been training at Roman Iron for almost a year now, and during that year my training has been taken to a new level. They offer a wide selection of specialty powerlifting and bodybuilding equipment, including several specialty bars, calibrated plates, competition racks, and many unique leg machines. While the equipment is top notch, what really separates this gym from any other in the area are the members that train there. It doesn’t matter what your goals are. Everyone at Roman Iron is there to better themselves, and support each other along the way. High level powerlifters, bodybuilders, and every day joes all working towards their individual goals, but doing it together. It doesn’t matter if you’re benching 405 or just trying to touch your toes for the first time, everyone wants to see you succeed.
The gym gets cleaned multiple times per week, and the owner is always willing to listen to member feedback, and improve on this great place that so many call their second home. They also offer several weekly classes and personal training services. If you’re serious about achieving your fitness goals, no matter what they are, stop by Roman Iron Gym and see...
