I guess it's great if you're a canine, but it's poorly taken care of by the parks and recreation departments. Overgrown weeds and erosion that doesn't get repaired in a timely manner. It would be helpful if they overseed it in the spring and the fall with new grass seed which would choke out a lot of the weeds and make it more desirable on the main path going down to the lake. It also needs signage to inform guests how far the walk is and how steep the incline is for the elderly. I think it would also be helpful to list on signage that aggressive dogs need to be kept on Lee should all times. I was there two weeks ago on a Thursday which has delayed opening so that staff can clean and maintain the dog park in the path area, however they did little to nothing on the pathway going down to the lake especially on the ramps going down to the lake as they were full of rocks, mud and leaves. Come on Johnson county Parks and recreation, when are you going to get your act together to maintain and beautify a very large off leash dog park. One last thing, when are you going to install restrooms down by...

There is a paved pathway down to the lake, it's probably about 1/4 mile long. There is also a steep hill to go down as you approach the lake. There are benches and a flat rock wall to sit on while you watch your pooches play. You can also get in the water with them if you prefer! My Corgi loves this place, it's hard to get her out of the water!
To get back to the parking lot, you can either go back the way you came or there is another path that is more of a switch back that is not a direct incline but gets your...
Read moreBy far the best dog park in the KC area. Ample parking on all but the busiest day/time, plenty of trash cans and poop bags. On site permanent toilets that are clean. Best draw is of course the dog beach, which is wonderful. Walk down and up is exerting for a fat man like me but very doable, even my 75 year old disabled mom can get there. Make sure to try the wooded paths to each side of the main paved walkway at least once. Doesn't have too much shade in the front portion of park so bring a hat and sunscreen...
