A public parking lot and entry point for the Blackstone Valley Greenway. Watch for runners and bikers if you're driving to the lot. The Greenway itself is spectacular, ideal for walking, roller-skating, roller-boarding, running, jogging, and biking. No motorized vehicles, please. Note that walkers stay on the LEFT-hand side of the path, while bikers stay on the right - bikers change lanes to go around walkers.
The path is 17.5 miles long, with parking spots every 1-3 miles. It parallels the Blackstone River and a railroad for much of its length. Read moreThe Blackstone Greenway is one of my favorite places in Rhode Island to walk. Most of the Greenway runs between the Blackstone canal and the Blackstone river so you have water and great views on both sides of the path. There are informative signs along the trail that give you a good idea of the history of the area. The Blackstone River was the birthplace of mills in the U.S. and there are still many dams along the river today that were used to power these mills. It is a great place to take kids, bikes, scooters, or just walk or jog. The bike path is well paved, very smooth and this year the leaves were incredible.
