I’ve been here 3 times now. Each time was worse than before. First of all, we went for Time Mission, Arcade and Dart City. Have yet to do Go-Karts and Axes but based on our experiences we are officially out on this place and here’s why…
TimeMission: It is INSANELY expensive for the quality. We have to get a Groupon for Time Mission and it still cost $80 for 3 of us; which wouldn’t be bad compared to a normal escape room that’s $30per person; however, the fact there are 25 rooms to go in and every time we have gone over the last 18 months the same rooms still have broken parts in the room so the experience doesn’t really work. Not to mention the rotating wheel of rooms down every time we visit. We visited on Sunday 10/2 and 5 rooms were out of order and couldn’t be used (2 or which were my daughter’s favorite rooms and the reason we drove the hour to go)!and 3 other rooms had broken pieces so the games inside couldn’t be played fully. This has been our experience all 3 times. Pieces in the Mastermind Room, Submarine Room and Math room have been broken our last two visits plus whatever roulette of out of order rooms they have that day. The rooms haven’t changed since open and probably never will. The rooms are the same theme and are not maintained you can see the overuse starting to show. I also don’t see any staff around to help or clean which since this is aimed towards family means it’s breeding ground for germs. A boy got hurt while we were there and when we went to go find someone to tell the staff was MIA. They weren’t in the halls or even the desk.
Arcade: $100 for tokens to win prizes from Dollar General. It costs like 1000 tickets for a dollar tree stuffed animal. Take your kids to the nearest Dave & Busters, the food is better the games are betters the prizes are better the overall value is better. They also don’t staff the arcade we had to wait 15 minutes to cash in our $100 worth of tickets. That alone caused us to never use the arcade on the two future visits
Dart City is $50 a person to throw darts! It’s a stupid concept and stupid price and they are advertising it like crazy because it’s so stupid they need people to go.
Food/Drink: The burrito food counter is terrible. The food is clearly microwaved and NOT fresh. Very dry and tasteless. They have a bar but you can’t use it before/during Go-Karts (RIGHTFULLY SO) and it’s away from everything so it’s out of sight out of mind. The one time we got beers the price felt in line with bars and restaurants so that was surprising.
My family has been wanting to try the GoKarts, which looks like the best things there, for a while but for $27 per person plus taxes and fees for one race we can’t see ourselves shelling out $100+ for a few laps. For the price of a visit here you could honestly buy the family a VR headset/a Nintendo Switch and pizza and have a fun game night at home and still have money left over at bedtime. If you really. Red to go out just to Dave & Buster's...
Read moreKARTING review: Very disappointed! We’ve been here before and had a good time. This time – far from good. The staff was disorganized, confused and not paying attention. There were 6 of us and we booked online in advance to ensure our ride times. Within an hour of opening, they were over 30 minutes behind schedule. I found a manager (Doug – heavyset with a knee brace) and addressed the issue. While he remained at the track working the floor (briefly), things moved a little faster but when he disappeared, so did half of the staff (2 out of 4 working the karts). One young female staff member stood at the computer, played with her phone or disappeared, we never saw her work. Doug is not management material and she should be fired. Our first ride was scheduled for 12:33 and we didn’t get on until 1:29! Our second ride was 1:00 and we got on at 2:06. Their website states “each race is 7 minutes” and “depending on speed, races can last 7-10 minutes” and the lap average is 7-10. Beware – if someone crashes or needs help, you lose that time! Some of us went 6 laps, two kids went only 5 and someone else in our race only went 4. There is NO guarantee how many laps you will drive. One adult race before us went three extra laps because there was no staff at the track to realize the clock expired. They are responsible for the safety of everyone on the track & they were oblivious or absent. If you are trying to figure out how much is costs – it’s expensive. $25 per race + a $7 membership fee per person. If you reserve in advance, there is a “7% online booking fee”. Again, beware – this online booking ensures your race but NOT your time! The website states “A reservation secures a specific time for your race and ensures that you do not have too long of a wait time.” As stated about, they were nearly an hour behind schedule for our rides, so your actual booking time is not absolute. If you do go – check GROUPON for big savings on your tickets! This place isn’t worth paying full price. We’ve been to more than 20 kart tracks along the east coast. Prior to this experience, we were happy with R1. After this experience, I honestly have no desire to return – there are better options out there. If you are looking for fun – go to Supercharged Entertainment in Wrentham. They have two multi-level tracks, have ½ price deals for school vacation and are much more organized &...
Read moreDo you want to spend obnoxious prices on races? Do you want to race with people who borderline have never driven a car before? Do you want a 7 min time,(used to be 10 minutes for 20$) only to be slowed down every 15 seconds?(the slow down time still counts towards your 7 minutes) You're in luck, R1 which used to be arguably one of the best go karting places in New England is for you! You will never make it a single lap without being slowed down! You will have children under the age of 10, racing with adults! You will spend the entire time being slowed down every 15 seconds, because instead of forcing people who have never raced into speed two; they will allow people who take 80+ seconds per lap race with you in speed 3! Congrats, you destroyed your business model, and no one who actually wants to race comes back!
Also! Good luck getting a refund because of this. They promise a service, and then force you to go 5mph around half the track every single lap; they claim they provide a service, but all they will do is steal your money!
Disclaimer: I used to race in the competitive league here. It USED to be good. But! Good luck getting a decent race no matter the day of the week. I have had my speed 4 races changed to speed 2 without my knowledge multiple times to accommodate children, and good luck even getting into speed 4, because they let people who have never raced before( also never driven a car) into speed 3 with 0 knowledge on how the cart even works. And they will slow you down every 10 seconds because these people spin out Ever since the price increase and track change, this place has been garbage. I will gladly be spending the money I would here on gas to go to supercharged, because at least there they have standards. Also, they do not give a shit about you or your experience unless you are a scheduled party spending hundreds or thousands!
Advice: People should not be allowed into speed 3 before they have at least 3 races in speed 2 with a qualifying time. Stop stealing peoples money to please people who crash your karts every lap(breaking your karts), and injure others. I have had my ribs broken here because of this. You block pro speed and high speed until they get a qualifying lap, it should be the same...
