Very Nice shop BUT... I went with my daughter to see if it was time to buy new skis & boots. I came here on recommendation of a friend.
Upon entering they greeted us and asked how they could help and the first thing they said was that they were going to charge us $40 to get fitted for boots. ( which is no where on their website)
Now a little backstory I worked for a high-end ski shop for over seven years. I did custom boot fittings, ski tuneup, and new ski installations & adjustments.
I knew exactly what I wanted my daughter to try on and the exact sizes. I told him what I wanted and that I did not want to a full boot fitting. I just wanted to slip the boots on her feet. If we needed to heat them or make adjustments, I would absolutely want to pay for that and tip my fitter really well. I completely understand that if I take up an hour of their time while they have other customers I should pay for that as well.
But they said they couldn’t bring the boots from the back without charging me.
The funny thing was, I was so turned off by then trying to money grab me that we left and went to another ski shop.
Where I bought an $1350 ski & boot package an hour after leaving their store.
To the manager: If your sales guys spent sometime with the customer maybe they could have gotten a better read & got my sale.
Maybe you didn’t have the perfect boot Or the size we needed but I wasn’t gonna risk that after paying your fee only to find out afterwards that you couldn’t help me. Your policy is vague, handwritten on a piece of paper and nowhere listed on your website.
Funny thing, I may have risked it If I could have used it on anything else in the store. If you didn’t have what I needed. But your policy is vague with no details.
*I have to laugh at the person & review of the who said that they were in line. The shop was empty, which is why this all so ridiculous. I am glad that you support this shop, it really looked like a great a shop and so many people have had great experiences. I just didn’t & called it as...

We recently revisited High Country Ski and Tennis to purchase a new set of skis, and once again, the experience surpassed my expectations. Having previously sought their expertise for tennis racket services, it's evident that this shop consistently delivers outstanding service.

Read moreHigh Country Sports is a rip-off, not to mention they are rude and unprofessional! I purchased a snowboard from them last year...they were super helpful and friendly...they even offered a free tune-up for the next season!!! Well, guess what, when I called this October regarding my "free" tune-up, I was told by the unfriendly guy that always answers the phone, that they did not offer free tune-ups but had a special going for $10.00. Ok, I wasn't going to argue over it so I took the board down to High Country for the $10.00 "special". When I dropped it off, and paid for it, I was told it would be about 1 week or 1 week and a half. Three weeks later, I called to check on the status, I was told they had 100's of boards and it would be done soon. The very next day, the owner, Bill, called me to say that the board was done and was wondering if the person that told me the tune-up was free happened to be his daughter? Apparently, he was more concerned about that than getting the board done correctly....I picked it up the next day and brought it home. When my son opened the bag, he saw that absolutely NOTHING had been done to his snowboard!! As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for". So, I'm off to Heinos to pay $39.00 for an excellent job. I'm out of $10.00 paid to High Country for nothing but wasted time and energy, but they are the real losers if they treat customers this way. Wish I could...
