My daughter and I went to this Blaze on Pie Day (3/14/22) at 8:33pm. The store closed at 9pm. We walked in because the door was open/not locked, walked past a young man preparing dough and up to the counter to place an order. After patiently waiting for a few minutes, not only were we not greeted, we were rudely told by the person taking orders that they were done making pies for the day. I giggled because I thought he was joking. Realizing he wasn't, I asked why was there no indication of that outside the door and why was the door still open for costumers to come in and place orders? He then spoke in a hushed tone to his coworker and that young lady repeated what he had just said. Unlike the young man, she actually looked at me when she said it. Neither were apologetic. Neither offered any explanation as to why they were "done making pies for the day." Even after I explained that I drove 25 minutes from my home to get the pizza and that the store was still open to customers, I was ignored. All this as we watch the first young man continue to prepare dough for making pies! I'm not one to cause a scene so my daughter and I simply left with a message that I would call the corporate office to file a complaint.
I totally understand that they may have been exhausted from what was surely a busy day, but that in no way excused rude and disrespectful behavior or terrible customer service. I'm not one to always believe the customer is right but I do believe the employees were absolutely in the wrong yesterday. Because of my daughter's practice schedule, I've been to that very store 30 minutes before closing on a few occasions and had no problem ordering pizza to go. The fact that they just didn't feel like making any more pies for the day should not be the reason to shut down the operation 30 minutes before they were supposed to! If they were backed up and could not make more pies then the website, app, AND signage outside the door should have indicated such. There was no indication and yet my daughter and I were turned away. I'm totally disgusted with the level of unprofessionalism. They need...
Read moreI was very pleasantly surprised with how good this place was. I was a little skeptical with the high (4.7) rating, but gave it a try. Build your own pizzas is the lates craze in the fast casual eating world and this place does it just right. Blaze offers many crust options including Keto diet, cauliflower, high rising and original. I may be leaving out one or two. They also offer a variety of sauce options as well as unlimited toppings including meats and veggies!
Once you have created your masterpiece, the pizza is carefully placed into a very high temp oven and 5-10 minutes later out comes perfection. The thin crust original pizza came out perfectly. A nice char on the crust and underneath. The sauce had some nice spice and a little bit of heat. The sauce definitely could not be characterized as lacking flavor. The toppings, in which I had pepperoni, italian sausage and pineapple, were nicely seasoned and added that much more flavor to my pizza. Additionally, Blaze offers side or entree salads and the Caesar was delicious.
Although I prefer to have behind the counter staff smile as much as possible, I can’t fault their service. Service was adequate and professional, as well as efficient. My only complaint about Blaze and I refuse to dock them a star (maybe it was a bad timing issue) was that the WiFi was not working. Even off of WiFi the signal is so weak inside I couldn’t get my iphone or ipad to work at all. It would have been nice doing some work and/or playing games while eating lunch.
All in all, a wonderful place and absolutely deserves the lofty score it has received so far. I will...
