Read moreTheoretically, I would give it a 0/1 for service and a 4/5 for food. So two stars is not an accurate depiction overall, but it’s the best that’s available at the moment. Food truly was generally quite enjoyable, but there were so many service issues that I couldn’t fully recommend the place. I would give it another try because everybody can have an off night. And for me food is the most important thing. To start we had to wait and wait and wait for our waiter to show up to give us water and wine glasses. Actually had to get up to ask the host send over a waiter. He then disappeared only to stop by again for our order for dinner- which somehow he screwed up. We had ordered several appetizers as part of our dinner course and they all came out with the other appetizers. The mezza was OK, Tzaziki was probably the highlight but the hummus and baba ghanouj were bland to sour. Octupus had an interesting preparation but was a relatively small portion for the price and didn’t taste fresh. Israeli salad was quite good but you have to love tomatoes to enjoy it. I’ve had Israeli salad at many places and there’s usually a better balance of cucumbers and tomatoes and often includes peppers. The dressing was very good. Grape leaves were good but the dill that was mentioned in the description was nonexistent. Somehow two of the appetizers that were ordered for our entrée course showed up at the same time as our appetizers and instead of sending them back to make them waste the food, we were nice and said we’ll take them. They ended up being two of the highlights of the evening, the Persisn shrimp and the Israeli fish tacos. Our waiter never showed up to check on how things were or apologize for the mixup. Then we waited and waited and waited for our entrées to arrive. They were delicious, well prepared, and nice size portions,-the skirt steak and the Kofta. We finally saw our waiter again when it was time to order dessert. At this point I think he knew we were quite annoyed but that didn’t seem to change his attitude or service level, desserts arrived in a timely fashion - an underwhelming but nicely presented soufflé, delicious pistachio baklava, and yummy ice cream - and we finally were presented the check and left. We never saw a manager, never had anyone show up to apologize for any of our service issues- truly an unacceptable service level for a restaurant charging the prices...
Read moreThere's honestly nothing at this restaurant to give it anything more than one star. We've frequented multiple mediterranean restaurants around the area but had never tried Mezza.
Stopped by Mezza on a Saturday evening and were seated at a table. One of the first things the server told us is that we must order appetizers and entrees together. I mean, what if we want to eat apps first, see how full we are and then decide if we want entrees or no? Is this a cheap tactic to make sure people order more and the restaurant earns more?
The service was absolutely atrocious. Despite this, we still ended up tipping. The pita came in 10 mins before the hummus with which we'd asked for pita. By the time the hummus came, the pita was cold. I wanted a re-fill of my diet coke and it took them 20 minutes for our server to come to our table. 20 minutes for a diet coke? Despite placing the order for entrees at the start, it took multiple reminders for the server to get us our food. She took away the unclean cutlery but didn't get back with clean ones despite multiple reminders. We eventually had to ask one of the people cleaning tables to get us cutlery.
When we asked our sever what took so long, she said she's swamped. Mind you, the restaurant only had 4 tables. If you're that swamped with 4 tables out of which someone else is taking care of 2 tables, don't be a server.
When the check came, there was a "credit fee" already added. Who did you ask before adding that? Did you tell the customers you'd be adding the additional 3% fee if they were paying by credit? If a customer comes in without cash, they're already paying 3% additional. What sort of business passes on your credit convenience fee to the customer?
Imagine paying $36 for 4 small cubes of chicken and this is the service you get.
Absolutely appalled by the experience here and would never be returning. Would also make sure we pass on our feedback to our friends and family...
