Cheese Central — Attraction in Lodi

The only reason this place is getting two stars is because they have good cheese. However, the service and respect as a customer I recieved upon my first visit was horrific. Both female workers (I'm looking at you Karen) were rude, condescending and discourteous to my friends and I. When I walked up to karen to ask her about their brie options she walked away to the back stating "I can't deal with someone like you", came back and curtly asked what we wanted to buy. I was appalled and when none of us answered since we were still processing what we night have done to solicit such a response, she walked away and told someone else to attend to us who was just as short. The clear difference in treatment was apparent, we walked in hopeful as they were cheerfully attending a couple who were told they had free reign of samples but were hesitant to even let us sample anything at all. I will never come back to this...

Visiting from out of state and our good friend showed us around this adorable part of downtown Lodi. What a cute area filled with little treasures, including this shop. I'm a huge fan of cheese, so I knew I'd be checking out this store. I loved sampling all the unique cheeses that you don't normally find in your local grocery store. Since this neighborhood is very much involved with wine, it's probably why this cheese shop exists. But you don't need to be a wine consumer to enjoy this place. Just a fan of cheese. I took home quite a few little cheesy treasures. It's was fun bringing back home and sharing with the family. This place offers much more than cheese. Oh and it's air conditioned. We stopped at the cheese shop during a trip through the area and after samples, bought 2 cheeses: a truffle and a Vermont cheddar. We chose based on samples and they scooped them up out of their stock, put them in a bag for us and we were happily on our way. Bag was placed in refrigerator over night and we decided to tear into the Cheeses over lunch the next day during our road trip. BOTH Cheeses had blue mold blooms on them. The truffle one blended in pretty well and I actually had a mouthful of foul moldy cheese when I looked closely and saw how moldy the pkgs were (mold on all sides of cheese). Neither purchase was salvageable and I was pretty grossed out by the moldy taste. ...
