Yes 1Star and that is because The Brick House has always been a go to place for us, until now. I was telling (bragging) to the people that I had brought with us as to the generous portions and the great bread they serve, the bread was worth the visit alone. We haven't been there for about 3 month. Things went down hill the minute we got our menus , it's now all A La Cart. !!! We contemplated leaving but it was getting late so we stayed, Chicken Marsala for example was $25 no sides if you want potatoes $8 if you want a veggie $8, Bread ? Another $8 I have chicken Marsala quite often and have never paid over $32 and usually it's in the 24-28 dollar range. WITH SIDES ! This isn't Ruth's Chris Steakhouse ! It is NOT that type of restaurant, Period ! its a casual lay back atmosphere. GENO ! You have destroyed what the Brick House (Lodi and Elk Grove) was all about !!! Sorry GENO, we will NEVER BE BACK until it returns to its roots !! By the way, our waitress was top notch first class and we felt she was a little embarrassed as to the A La Cart issue when we questioned her about it. But again she was really good. The food ? It was OK, as I had the Lasagna which is usually served A La Cart anyway. But really now No Bread ??? Get it together GENO !!!...
Read moreWe selected Brick House to cater our wedding on 5/1/21, and I am still getting compliments on the food! The chicken piccata is the best I've ever had, their tri-tip was cooked perfectly and paired with a chimichurri sauce, and they easily accommodated our vegetarian guests with leaving the antipasti for the salad to the side. Throughout the whole process, Geno was on the ball, very responsive to every single question, every change we made, and overall extremely pleasant to work with. I would HIGHLY recommend Brick House for catering your event! In addition, I recently went there to have dinner with my sister, we sat in the bar area. I loved the atmosphere in the restaurant, from the lighting to the music that was playing, and the attitude of the waitstaff. They were all very pleasant, Buffy was our sever and she was really sweet. We saw Geno consistently walking around and saying hi to guests, including us. We had a great bottle of Oak Farm Chardonnay paired with their clam linguine and a cup of minestrone. Did I mention they have garlic butter for the bread?! We...
Read moreSERVICE: Let me preface this review by stating that our waitress was very professional and service from her was truly a benchmark that all restaurants should seek to obtain.
FOOD: If you were looking for a quick casual meal and enjoying an atmosphere on high-top tables or looking for a more intimate evening to dress up for formal dining, this was the place to be.
Known for generous portions and full-flavor plates has made a change for the worse. The owner has moved away from these roots and now only offers sides at your expense.
He has said that the à la carte prices of entrees have reflected the change.. I’m sorry, but spare me, please. The portion size and flavor is what put this place on the map in the first place. Decreasing the fully loaded meal by $5 and charging anywhere from $8-$12 per side is ludicrous.
This isn’t a white tablecloth establishment to reflect à la carte service. Mirroring the direction of the Elk Grove location with this change is the worst decision that Geno has made and it will ruin this place for many customers until the...
