My sister and I attended the first of 3 Elton John’s farewell concerts at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles on 11/17. It was really a lot of fun 😄🙌!! Elton is so amazing 🤩 to watch in concert 🎶!! I think the majority of people our age also nostalgically were first introduced to his music 🎶 through the “The Lion King 🦁 👑” since that came out when we were in junior high 😃! Even though he was already so accomplished and famous for his music well before that!
We definitely ❤️ his farewell concert 🎶 🥰!!
But I have to admit that this is probably the first and last concert we will ever attend for any musician at Dodgers Stadium 😳! We already went on a Thursday, and the traffic was already so bad 😬! Coming in was kind of stressful already because the roads are kind of dark as you get closer to the stadium. We already got there at least 2 hours prior to the start of the show. So we parked ok.
But leaving the stadium was really a zoo 🥵! There is no organization or regulation in regards to the traffic. We wanted to wait until the traffic subsided before heading out. But one of the parking attendants blocked off certain gates. So agitated and angry drivers drove towards our area and almost knocked into our car 😳! So that forced me to start the car and leave. But in doing so, we got stuck for a long time in the traffic 😣!
We also found out later that an elderly couple who had watched the same concert that evening had tried to leave early to beat the traffic. However, they were beaten in the parking lot 😬! From what I heard, the majority of people who saw what happened just walked on by. Unfortunately, the security was nowhere in sight to help this poor couple 🥺! Finally, after being unconscious for at least 45 minutes, the wife got her husband into the car and drove him herself to a hospital 😢. She was badly injured, but didn’t need to be hospitalized. But her husband had a concussion and suffered fractures and had a broken ankle. He was released from the hospital over the weekend, and was interviewed. But understandably, he is still in so much pain and his eyes are still...
Read moreLoved my first visit to Dodger Stadium! Have always heard some more negative stories about the place so I was a little weary of going, but it was a great experience.
We took the free Dodger Express from Union Station. Lines get long but it does its job of getting you to and from the stadium safely and in a timely manner— would recommend it over waiting in the traffic to get in and out.
Never went before the renovations to the outfield, so I’m not sure what it looked like before, but it was very nice. Lots of places to eat, cool photo spots with statues and plaques, lots of cool memorabilia, and a nice mariachi performance and autograph area for the Viva Los Dodgers celebration.
The stadium offers a wide variety of food options from chicken sandwiches to Shake Shack to California Pizza Kitchen. We opted for the classic Dodger Dogs which were unfortunately very disappointing— dry bread, microwave hotdog flavor. Would definitely go for something else next time. Lines were gigantic starting an hour before the game so eat before or come patient and ready to wait. They do their best to go quick though with grab and go cafeteria style stands and beer coolers.
Packed crowd for Sunday Night Baseball which made for a fun atmosphere. No trouble whatsoever with any rowdiness, the home crowd made no fuss when any of the visiting Cubs fans cheered. Security was very present if there were any problems though.
Only thing that bugged me was that the employees were not able to take photos for you as they have their own stadium photographers. Never seen that at any other stadium in the league. Luckily, we were able to find very kind people to take pictures for us.
Loved the way the stadium was very retro from the signs to the architecture— made for the most “classic” baseball experience of any park I’ve been to. A lot of parks try to be new and modern, but Dodger Stadium embraces the retro theme and does a great...
Read moreLet's face it we all go out to the game to see the Dodgers play and hopefully win but the atmosphere and experience are sometimes just as important if not more important should they lose. I've been to Dodger Stadium so many times and watched the evolution of its concession, merchandise and special installations over the years. And honestly don't know if they are heading in the right direction this year. Lines at concessions on the Loge are ridiculously off-putting. I didn't buy a dodger dog this time because I didn't feel like waiting in line or walking down to the field level. My friends Dodger Dog was cold. I don't understand why I can buy a bag of Dodger blue peanuts at Albertson's but I can't buy one at the stadium. When I consider the other stadiums I visit and the concessions they have, the Los Angeles Dodger Stadium at Chavez ravine seems to me to be substandard as opposed to being the standard. Parking was not as easy as it should be this early in the season either. They need more attendants clearing walkways and keeping people to the sides to let car traffic go through unimpeded. The game has been speeded up by the MLB new rules and that cuts out some of the fun things that used to happen in between innings but it doesn't mean that giveaways need to tighten up. If anything there should be more giveaways especially of new menu items high-profile merchandise and parking. Also several of the seats were torn on the loge level first base side and a few other health and safety violations that I noticed while attending this game. I usually sit on the field level but I spent some time walking the field concourse too and was equally unimpressed. It's early in the seasonso maybe they'll tighten up their Stadium act. Either way I'm still rooting for a good season. But for the prices we pay for seats now, you might be better off staying home to watch the coverage if it's going to be substandard at...
