Read moreIf you are going to a chineese eatery in chinatown in los angeles, ca, Full House Seafood would be in my top 5 places i would eat at. First off, THEY GOT AN "A"...!!! I am not sure how others feel about eating at place that doesnt have an "A" rating by the Health Dept., but i refuse to eat at a place that doesnt have an "A"... Now I have that out of the way, next is the way the place looks inside. The lights are not over powering, their nice fish tank in the front is nice and clean and has a beautiful silver arawanna(sorry for spelling), its quite large, and all table cloths as well as silverware and dishes were nice and clean. I was greeted by a staff member and was welcomed right in as i entered the establishment. Everyone that was already sitting all had smiles on their faces, they must be enjoying... i was sat down at a table right next to the aquarium with the nice i spoke of earlier, salted peanuts and hot tea were immediately brought to the table along with menus. I ordered an ice water and my date ordered a lemonade. She ordered it because there was a poster on the wall that made her think they served freshly squeezed lemonade. She was dissapointed when she took her first sip and tasted the taste of a drink that was created by a powdered mix. She still drank it.... Now, it was only 2 of us at this place, and there were so many things to order. Every entree was about averaging 9-12 bucks. We wanted to try so many things, but we would have so much food left over and the cost would be too high. I found a page that had combinations, starting at 14.99 for minimum 2 people. They offered soup, egg rolls, sliced bbq pork, fried shrimp tempura for thr appetizer. The ammount was perfect, not too much and not too little. Then came a beef dish which was good, a shrip dish which was tasty, and bbq fried rice. These were almost all the things we wanted to order seperately. This combination was perfect for us. We had left overs to take home. They even boxed everything up for us and gave us orange slices and a couple fortune cookies for good measure. I enjoyed my time at Full House Seafood. Its a must if you...
Read moreMaybe we got lucky or people eat late here but as soon as we walked in we got a table. It took us 7 minutes to figure out what we want and place our order (my mom signaled our server that we were ready).
We ordered spicy salted fried squid, fried stuff tofu, sautee water spinach (i think), house noodle soup, two orders of rice, and Crab in black bean sauce. First dish was out in 5 minutes. Since we ordered many entrees and ate family style, we ate whatever was ready first.
Everything was flavorful but only if you know how to eat some things. For example, my mom claimed the fried squid was bland but she needed to get the salted garlic pieces from the plate to have the right taste.
The squid pieces were perfectly fried with a light coat of starch but like all fried foods, it is best to eat them before they cool off cause it will get soggy or too hard (think of your McDonald fries in the same way).
The tofu breading was too thick but that is the only way it doesnt fall apart because the Tofu piece is too big. If they cut the Tofu into half the size, then they can use less breading which would make it perfect (use sesame soy sauce to dip).
The house special noodle soup had big scallops (nice surprise), shrimp and pork pieces along with egg noodles in a light broth. You will need to add soy sauce to dip your pork pieces for flavor. Do Not pour soy sauce into the broth, it will ruin the soup (unless you like it that way but it changes the flavor profile).
Portions were huge so we got left overs which we didnt plan on having. Prices seem reasonable for 5 dishes. Bill was $140 since crab was...
