Read moreVisited today after switching my walks to Echo Park lake for a year. Hollenbeck has come a long long long way in a year. Kudos to the mqnagement and staff! Stolen wiring replaced and covers welded which means lighting at night is possible, new trees planted, lawns well groomed, practically no visible trash. Before, trash, tree branches, leaves, etc. Graffiti was painted over, but has re-emerged on freeway wall and under bridge. Several homeless still living within the park boundaries, especially under the freeway overpass although less for sure! Great job team! You turned it around
Now, finish the rest! Re-house the homeless install more lights and cameras under the bridge Prosecute violaters, especially taggers and painters Repaint Upgrade Fountains to prettier and more effectively aerating the water.

While this place is great during the day, it's pretty much deserted towards the evening and not even safe or recommended to hang out in after dark.
The track around the lake also gets a very funky smell in certain areas. We're talking super rotten eggs kind of smell.
There's a parking lot but also ample street parking. Just be cautious and make sure to read the signs in case of street sweeping. The side of the park where the parking lot is located does not have the same street sweeping regulations. One half of the block has street sweeping on Wednesdays while the other half is on Fridays.
