Learn moreA few of my followers have been wondering if I’m a mountainous region enjoyer… and the answer is… heck freaking yes! And Runyon Canyon is the perfect place to enjoy said nature! Whenever I fly into LA for business trips (yeah… I’m employed, folks! Surprise!) I try to get myself over to this beautiful place. The main path of Runyon is nicely paved in a way that it isn’t a perfect and smooth surface, but it’s not like you’re getting into crazy business and ruining your nice new shoes 😂 (my daughter did that once!! While selling Girl Scout cookies the day after her birthday she went all the way into the forest and fell into a 6 foot pile of mud 🤣 in Gucci sandals! Hah! Don’t worry… they were knockoff anyway… ). I digress! The difficulty of this hike definitely depends on your past experience, but as a guy from the midwest where EVERYTHING is flat (yeah, even including the flat fees for pretty much everything… 😅) this hike is of medium difficulty. It raises ye ol heart rate but on a brisk day it’s alright. Now if you were to do this is 90 degree weather… that might be a lot harder 🤣. There are nice mountain views as well as some far away city views… but there are also some cool houses to look at too. Don’t let your kids look at the houses too much, though… they’ll start asking, “Papi can we move here??” Yeah, with those property taxes and skimpy insurance coverages… maybe if I become a quadrillionaire 🤣🤣 heh, all jokes. So yeah, Runyon is the place to be if you’re on a trip to LA and are looking for a good hike. Many celebrities would agree with you too because there are a lot of celebrities here. I like this place!

Read moreThis was literally my first hike and I don't exercise or hike, as I was able to do it ... most of you should be able to do it.
Started at 11 am on a reasonably warm day (around 75 degree) with little water ... but cap really helped me and there was breeze.
I think park has two entrance, we entered from Fuller Ave. Park in Fuller Ave or across streets.
If you want easy, as soon as you enter the park (from Fuller Ave) take left and go counter clock wise (it is kind of circular trail) ... this is longer route but less steep and fully paved (I took this one). If you want low medium challenge keep going straight, this path at some point has very steep hike, which is slippery and tough.
Use Google Maps and add "View point of Hollywood sign" , trail keeps going further than "View point of Hollywood sign", so keep an eye on the map. Another way to know you have reached is there is water fountain (it is the second water fountain on the counter clock direction).
There are lot of folks walking with pets. There are some trees where you can take a breathe.
Hollywood sign and City itself was tough to see due to haze, smog, pollution even though it was clear and bright sunny day. Hike itself though was good.
On the way down, we took the steep route (kept going counter clockwise) and it was very slippery due to small pebbles etc. If you want easier route, turn back and use the way which you used to hike up.
It took me 1 hour to go up and down, I was expecting to be sore next day but touchwood it was perfectly fine. I would do it again...
Read moreRunyon Canyon Park is a great place to start ones morning off with fresh air, get an afternoon hike in, or catch the evening sunset out over Santa Monica in the Pacific Ocean. One of the best features of Runyon Canyon is that every single day is a new day and you never know who you are going to run into or what types of shenanigans may occur on the trails. The Runyon Canyon trail features a food and beverage stand incase one runs dry on foodstuff or libations during there explorations, as well as multiple water stations to refill water bottles and stay hydrated, which is extremely beneficial to the dry heat and glaring sun that Los Angeles is known for nearly year round. Near the base of the Runyon Canyon park there is a picnic area perfect for families or young couples looking to have an outdoor date. As for community activities, often times pop up yoga classes or hiking groups are formed to keep people motivated and in shape. I have several lively stories from times I have spent on this trail including, a man being rescued on the Mountain, after multiple helicopters, police, and firetrucks were sent to assist. Other than Griffith Observatory, Runyon Canyon Park offers a breathtaking overview of the Los Angeles landscape, whether its sunrise, sunset, or the lighting generated by the vast city. If you plan to visit Los Angeles for an extended weekend, be sure to hike through Runyon Canyon Park, you also get a distant view at the infamous...
