Great views of the Hollywood Bowl, downtown Los Angeles and the westside. Coin operated telescopes are available. From the top of the short trail from the parking lot, you get an even better view of all of the sights, including the Hollywood sign and part of the San Fernando Valley. The parking lot is very small and a bit tricky to enter. You can only enter from the eastbound side of Mulholland (coming from Laurel Canyon). The scenic overlook was recently named for conservation philanthropist Jerome Daniel. Here is an obituary of Daniel.

Born to Nathan and Gertrude Daniel in Chicago, Illinois, he graduated from Indiana University, and served in the U.S. Army overseas. Jerry Daniel was a man who helped create Open Space Parks in Los Angeles through his work with the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and Mountains Recreations Conservancy Authority - thus preserving both the land and the many native species of plants that are found within them. We are fortunate in Mount Washington to have Elyria Canyon Park; Heidelberg Park and Rainbow Canyon Park managed by the MRCA/SMMC. I remember Jerry's kindness and leadership when I became a Member of the SMMC Advisory Committee. He will not be forgotten. RIP Dear Friend.

Read moreIt was nice at first when you're in your parked car looking out at the view. However, don't even dare try to walk up on this little hill by the road before getting to the outlook as there will be park rangers that will laugh at you trying to climb up rather than being at the base letting people know that you can not climb up. No signs posted, whole families were doing it as well and they got told nothing. On the other hand, us and another couple people get recorded and laughed upon. None of us had any clue what was going on til they decide to just announce themselves as park rangers after we're almost up the hill and get told off. Just fence up that area and make sure people visiting don't try to do what we did rather than laugh and record like little kids. Happy 4th of July you two incompetent park rangers and to everyone else. Hope your experience isn't as...
Read moreAlso known as the Hollywood Bowl Overlook, the Jerome C Daniel Overlook is a must!!! Situated in the hills above Hollywood, this vantage point provides breathtaking panoramic views of the iconic Hollywood Bowl amphitheater, the Hollywood sign and the surrounding cityscape with sweeping gorgeous green hills.
This spot is easily reachable by car or public transportation. There are only about 6 places to park, but it’s not a place where you spend a lot of time, simply park, jump out of the car, take photos and leave.. so if you wait long enough you’ll find a spot to park.
You’ll notice this is a popular spot for all those Hollywood tour buses to stop as well.
A little secret for the adventurers .. hop off the stairs and follow the trail through the bushes.. you’ll see a metal cage with equipment in it, walk pass and there you’ll have a private...
