Museum was closed when I stopped over on a Sunday but luckily the gate was open so the grounds were free to walk around. The house itself is really beautiful and has a wonderful colonial design. Around the house are many small buildings and in the back corner is a really lovely rose garden. We enjoyed walking through it and also sat in the shade a bit to soak in the sites. The museum itself is located in a large park so parking is really easy and it’s a very peaceful and tranquil type of environment. I would like to go back again and do a tour of the house because I really enjoyed checking out the grounds.

The museum staff were incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic, providing insightful answers. Stepping into the museum felt like stepping back in time, with beautifully preserved interiors and period furnishings that perfectly captured the era." Such a beautiful historical history ... I loved it.. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who continue to keep this beauty alive .. Phineas Banning would be so proud 👏

It's a very special place, part of long-lost California's history. House built by Phineas Banning, handsome self-made man, who owned a warf and a newspaper, was married twice, and had about dozen of children. Very well preserved, even though the furniture is not all original. The guided tour was excellent. But it's not open everyday, so check the schedule on the website to avoid closed doors.

I've been living in the South Bay area and never knew about this wonderful piece of history until last week at their Holiday Open House event. Free self-guided tours of the residence. I learned a lot about Mr. Banning and how Port of LA came to existence.

The open house event was lovely as all the staff members and volunteers dressed into specific era of history. Complimentary trolley rides were available as well as tasty snacks. I also enjoyed the local mom & pop vendors in the back courtyard. I love to support local businesses!

There's a railroad/train exhibit on the 1st floor and that was neat to visually see the transportation logistics of goods and such. There was another building to watch a historical video. Small, but beautiful rose garden in the back.

Since I was in a time crunch, I breezed through everything in an hour, which is definitely NOT enough time. I vow to be back again to reach each placard. Limited hours for tours. Suggested donation of $5, which I'd happily donate when...

I have been going to this beautiful park ever since I was a kid and I was raised in Wilmington Ca. and my parents always took me here to play when I was a kid. It is indeed a beautiful and nice big park to just relax and enjoy as well as to play in and they also have a recreation center as well as the Banning Residence museum and Please take the museum in it will tell all about the history of Wilmington and how it started and all about Phineas Banning the father of the harbor. and also the history of the Banning mansion/ museum. you will have a great day and really get educated on the history of how Wilmington got started when you take in the museum. So please I highly recommend going to Banning park for a day as well as taking in the Banning Residence museum along with the family. You will indeed have a wonderful day and bring a picnic lunch, and also there is a McDonald's fast food place right next door to the park on Pacific Coast Highway Hope you enjoy...
