The Last House on Mulholland has excellent view for photos of the Hollywood Sign. It's a easy walk from Innsdale Trailhead! To To get to Innsdale Trailhead use the 101 to Barham Exit and google from there or better yet download off line map. Directions: First park legally and free curbside all day 24/7 on residential streets Innsdale Drive, Tahoe, or Lake Hollywood Drive right next to Innsdale Trailhead. Residential street parking is legal in all of LA. Avoid parking right next to Lake Hollywood Park as past 8PM you will be ticketed. Do not park red or yellow curbs and do not block driveways, roads, trailheads. Directions: From Innsdale trailhead take Innsdale dirt trail to paved Mulholland. Take a left On Mulholland and then next left through the auto barriers to stay on Mulholland to Last House on Mulholland. (all this is legal) If you want to go to above the Hollywood Sign viewpoint then bear to your RIGHT at Smokey Bear Sign onto dirt trail. Take this dirt trail all the way around to the Mt Lee Drive Gate. On left is a chain link door, enter and walk up paved Tyrolian tank road to front of sign viewpoint or walk up the longer paved Mt Lee Road to see top of the Hollywood Sign. Mt Lee Drive is open Sunrise to Sunset for entrance. (You have to be out of Griffith Park which surrounds Sign by 10:30Pm). If you don't need parking, take an Uber/Lyft to 6100 West Muholland Highway La CA 90068 corner of Ledgewood and walk up Mulholland to Last House on Mulholland. (The blockades are to stop cars not hikers.) please bathroom stop before, bring water, do not smoke and Leave No Trace. (You can park a block below on Mulholland and Ledgewood during the week, however not on red curbs and not where the no parking arrows face, so it's easier and safer to start at Innsdale Trailhead). The roads are extremely narrow and not at all safe for tourists - I have taken this route up a little ways two times before and the last time there was a fork accident coming around a corner. It’s impossible to turn around also. It’s not worth it - just park at the bottom and hike up. Please tourists - stop driving up here because it’s just not safe. It’s very easy to park at the bottom and walk up this road - but really, there are so many great things to see in California and you will be disappointed if you only want to see this and...
Read moreFinding the perfect spot to take a good picture with the Hollywood sign can be tricky. You can see it from Griffith Observatory and Lake Hollywood Park, but if you want a closer view, this is one of the best.
Search “Hollywood Sign Viewpoint” or “The Last House on Mulholland” on maps you can drive there through residential roads. At the top, the road is blocked by signs, but you’ll usually see 6–7 cars parked with hazard lights on. From there, it’s just a 10-minute walk to a great viewpoint where you can get close-up photos with the Hollywood sign.
