The Aileen Getty Ridge Trail can be very difficult and strenuous for some instead for Hollywood Sign we use the relaxing hike from Innsdale Trailhead. the Getty trail is rocky often narrow trail with heights, steep drops and rattle snakes (As LA locals with dogs we try to avoid snakes). So for some people and especially pups we suggest an easier safer Innsdale Trailhead (where all the tours and locals start) Innsdale trail is wide and there is water half way up at Last House In Mulholland, Also easy Free public legal parking on all LA residential streets: all of Innsdale Drive, Tahoe Drive , Lake Hollywood Drive and Canyon Lake. Don't park yellow or red curbs and park curbside facing traffic direction. Do not block driveways or smoke . Leave no Trace, whichever trails you take, please...
Read moreDefinitely one of the best trails in LA. Interesting, fun and a little challenging. We started the trail in Lake Hollywood, passing Wisdom tree and three small hills(up and down) to arrive at the back of Hollywood sign(where the radio tower is). It's about 2 miles, but definitely need some effort. Some part of the trail is narrow, steep and slippery. A little challenging but not super hard. We have small kids who did it without big issue. View on the top is gorgeous and there are some nice plants, flowers all around. Really it is worth it and you will be rewarded once...

We hiked with a 9yo and a 6yo and it took less than 3 hours round trip. There are some moderate to difficult sections, but it's easily doable. This was the highlight of our day and a half in LA. Beat views of both LA and San...
