Valley Plaza Recreation Center — Attraction in Los Angeles

For the coach who was teaching “boxing”. I signed my kids up for a boxing course and the same day they started I signed them out! I’m not sure what academic background the coach had but the way this man was talking to the kids was unacceptable. The moment I signed my kids up, we walked in the the small gym where the class was taking place. Without introducing himself or asking for my kids names, at the least, he rudely told them, you’re late!! Jumping jacks! My kids were confused and wondering why they were getting a consequence if they had just walked in the gym. This was upsetting because my youngest is 5yrs old and has autism, he didn’t understand the reason behind it and explaining it to him wouldn’t have made sense. I’m addition, my husband came in right after me and saw the coach talking to me and my children in a rude way, once my husband addressed it, he became hostile and wanted to fight my husband 😳 seriously!! I hope every parent in that room watching the man belittle their child, signs their child out! The only thing he’s doing is affecting their mental/emotional...

Pros: park is clean, feels safe, and nice for kids to enjoy. They have a great summer night lights program that keeps the kids busy. There is plenty of parking all around the park.

Cons: This park favors a very unfair, unprofessional umpire. After attempts to reach out to the staff and resolve this situation my concerns are still unattended to, and this umpire is free to make invalid calls And run the game in whatever way he wants. He is even caught on video taking bribes from parents about making strike calls. I have reached out and told the officials of this park that their players are unhappy with this umpire, and they still don’t care. I’m not sure if this umpire is a friend or relative of someone who works at the park but whatever they have going on isn’t right. I would give them negative stars if I could. It’s very unpleasant to watch these games, and the saddest part is the players dread this...

What a BALL I LITERALLY had at the Valley Plaza Recreation Center (VPRC)! The smell of churros gently wafting in the evening breeze tingled my nostrils with delight as I scampered and hit a HOME RUN!!!! That's right, it might be a SOFT ball but it's HARD to hit unless you're me, Tim C!!!! ;) The ground wasn't the most even running surface, but I'm not here for the Cinderella dress up show! I'm here to PLAY SOFTBALL LIKE MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT! :0 (settle down, big guy!) Seriously, if you like overhead lighting and dirt, you won't be disappointed! Just tell them the "Slammer" sent you! It's a little farther from Von's and Crawfords than I like to go, because it's not in the same neighborhood. But "that's the way the cookie crumbles!" Chocolate...
