The concept is amazing, and IN THE PAST... Game Dude has been a Treasure of the Valley. NO LONGER.
My last visit, I purchased an Atari 2600, for $69, as well as 20 games. I also purchased an original NES, alongside 20+ games as well. My total was $400.
During this awesome purchase, Ivan the sales person told me "if you are going to sell them, bring them back, instead of selling them online. You might get a little more online, but it sucks to sell them overseas."
Fast forward to today. I was ready for somebody else to enjoy these treasures from our childhoods!
I brought the 2600 Atari to sell, since we have not used it since purchase. I tested the Atari before taking it to game dude, and it was in the same exact condition as when I purchased it from Ivan at Gamedude.
The machine worked properly, but showed a bit of snow. Something he attributed during the sale, to the age of the machine. "That's how they look," Ivan said.
After 45 minutes of waiting, while I've been inspected my system, another salesperson returned and told me they could not purchase my system due to "snow." Same exact condition. No lie.
Understood. If the console is not in a condition for anybody to purchase, it should not be sold.
The manager, Ignacio, had overheard our discussion, and ignored my concern. After my transaction took place, Tony apologized profusely for him and the inconsistencies in the return policies and how they handled the issue.
There was clearly no management present in the store, and the sales people were left to themselves to make decisions as they wished.
As I left the store, Ignacio came over to the counter without any care to engage. He didn't want to be bothered.
I introduced myself, asked for his name (since he did not introduce himself), and kindly told him I would leave a review.
Gamedude is no different than the kid who would hog the $0.25 arcade game....even if they lost..... "Pop in another quarter, Or move along....." That's what Gamedude and Ignacio had to offer today. I hope tomorrow is different.
This time.... You guys lose out. Another Local Legend Gone....
Read moreI really can't say anything bad about this place. I've been coming here for over twenty years. I have seen systems and games that I didn't even know existed. I have asked many questions and have always got an answer and if it wasn't that person's fortay they would call someone who knew more about it to help out. I have purchased games and accessories for the PS1, PS2, GameCube, Gameboy Advance, Dreamcast, Wii & the WiiU. I have never found anything wrong with anything that I have brought home from this store. Their selection is second to none. If all this is not already impressive you can also sell all your games, systems and accessories back to them whether you originally bought it from them or not. If you don't want to deal with online and shipping and want some credit for your next purchase they got you covered there as well. Prices are all set to fair and good business practices like popularity, availability & Supply and Demand. If you would like to support a local business or are just curious and/or have questions about your gaming journey come by and take a look. Just remember to be patient and nice to the employees. We are all dealing with alot right now and a please and thank you will go alot further than hey, yo or you over there. I would like to thank all the employees, managers, supervisors and the owners for all of the fond memories and gaming milestones that I created in your store. I hope when you read this you will know that you matter and that each day you come to work you are all part of a collective that helps bring fun, enjoyment, entertainment and good times in to...
Read moreGame Dude is the defacto pinnacle game and video store in the entire Metro Los Angeles area. They have almost every game known from the old Atari all the way up through all the rest (PS2, PS3, PS4, XBOX, XBOX360, XBOX ONE, etc. Plus all accessories like controllers and adapters, joysticks, game guides, books, etc. They literally have it ALL! Customer service has never been their strong suit however, but once you get used to the self-service nature. It's difficult to explain, but once you go there, you'll see what I mean. You ask them for things or questions and they just act sort of like you'd expect from teenagers working in a game store, I guess. It's pretty much the same in any game store I've visited. No big deal, really. After learning how they operate, you just grab their price sheets from the stand and look up the prices of what you want to buy and its listed there. They must have a lot of crime because they are very strict with bags behind counter and IDs, etc. My subsequent visits are more fun because I already know what to expect and go in having already researched everything online and don't have to ask the unhelpful staff anything. Again, you go there for the outstanding selection of games or used consoles and decent prices or to sell them your old games at heavily discounted prices. For example, the game I wanted to buy was $18, but their sheet says they'll only pay mec$4 for it, if I want to sell it back. Hardly worth selling,...
